The Perks of Working With Bloggers

I enjoy writing about the concept of blogging itself, in fact I only last wrote a post on why I love blogging so much a few weeks ago. There are some misconceptions about bloggers, such as blogging to get 'freebies' or writing just to gain followers. Both myself and the majority of bloggers I know are true to the heart and adore blogging for all the right reasons. I thought it would be a lovely idea to share why I think working with bloggers can benefit other bloggers and brands too.

Staying loyal to a brand

If we collaborate with a brand to write about products and we enjoy them, there's a good chance we will see something else we like and buy it from the same brand. Whats happens with me is that I may see a product I like, for example a contour kit, if I know there is a contour kit from a brand I trust now that I have reviewed something in comparison with a brand I haven't tried, unless there is a huge difference in price I would stick to the brand I have worked with. This has a mutual benefit. The brands I have been most loyal to have been Benefit Cosmetics and Makeup Revolution.

Social Media

Before blogging I was on social media quite a bit, but my feeds were pretty boring. I did follow some big YouTubers and bloggers but they don't post as much these days. I was always on my phone but it was often spent playing games when the social media platforms were a bit dry. Nowadays I always have something to check, a person to talk to or a photo to upload. A lot of bloggers are on multiple social media platforms so if we write a blog post, it usually gets shared a lot. I will pin my posts to Pinterest, share my link on Twitter, upload a photo to Instagram etc etc. If we collab with a brand then the likelihood of it being plastered all over out Twitters and Instagrams is pretty high! That means more coverage and more people are likely to read the post and be influenced by our posts.

Honesty

You have that one friend who tells you their real opinion of that dress you're about to buy and you value their opinion a lot. That's what bloggers are. Most of us are transparent with our readers and won't be influenced in a negative way to write what the brand would prefer to hear but we can give honest opinions. A lot of the time there aren't solely negative reviews and just the odd bit of constructive criticism. We can advise on whether that eyeshadow has enough pigment or the top was a bit itchy. Everyone needs honest opinions in order to make improvements! With beauty products I tend to fall in love at first swatch and although the majority of my reviews are positive, they're completely honest

Writing & Knowledge

If we're writing about the same category of products or brands for a while, we know what we're talking about. Not as an expert, but down to experience. Bloggers write multiple times a week if not daily and writing skills improve through this. If a brand is after a well written review, sometimes bloggers are the best way forward. We know how to describe a products texture or how well a blending brush's bristles are in comparison with a non-blogger. With this experience and knowledge we tend to advise friends/family/coworkers what products they should be buying if we have reviewed them or know someone who has. I've actually been asked in Harvey Nichols in Liverpool at a beauty counter which foundations I would advise on for the lady's skin type. Despite me not having the same skin type I knew exactly which foundations she would enjoy and she made a list and thanked me. That was a proud moment as a blogger!

We love what we do!

We wouldn't blog if we didn't. As a brand in collaboration with bloggers expect an honest review, high quality photography and us to share the post on social media. We would be honoured. I love writing about beauty, fashion and lifestyle and have always shared my opinions before I was a blogger on latest trends and products. Aged 11(ish) I made my Mum go to Next and I picked a full outfit for her and she bought it as she liked it. I buy my little sister cute dresses from H&M and sometimes I even buy my boyfriend clothes too. I love sharing what I love with friends and family and often do my friends makeup or let them use mine. If you want a blogger who has dedicated their time to writing about what they love, you're in the right place. Finding a blogger who will put their heart and soul into collaborating with you - that's something special.

What do you think is a benefit of working with bloggers?

We're on YouTube & Paris Vlog

If you didn't already know from Twitter, myself and my boyfriend have just launched our YouTube channel! It isn't going to be the typical channel - it will be odd videos here and there as we wanted to upload our videos we have already made but mainly concentrate on our blogs. Last year we both went to Paris for our 21st birthdays and have posts such like Our Trip (in photos), Laduree Treats and Paris Travel Recommendations if you are going and want to see what to do beforehand.

Our first video is of our tiny clips stitched together with some pretty music if you want to have a watch! We would appreciate it if you could subscribe too!

Provoke Touch Of Silver - New Range Review

You've seen me talk about this brand before, and I was kindly sent a goodie bag box* with their new range in to review. The box included their Pre-Toning Primer, Ultra Firm Hairspray, Revitalising Dry Shampoo, Instant Shine Dry Shampoo, Intensive Shine Treatment Shots, Intensive Keratin Treatment Shots, Brightening Shampoo, Colour Care Shampoo and Conditioner, Intensive Condition and of course, some M&Ms! I've spoken about hair a far bit on my blog, from shampoos to extensions and after working in a salon for a short period of my life it's safe to say that I'm not too bad at giving
some recommendations.

The Pre-Toning Primer can be used before dying your hair blonde or used as a leave-in conditioner which is what I use it for. My hair feels a lot softer since I began using it after every wash whilst my hair was damp. It doesn't come out purple or stain the hair in case it looks like it would. The Ultra Firm Hairspray with UV Absorber is a really strong hair spray that is perfect for curling your hair. It stays in that well that the extensions that I curled but didn't use for graduation still look exactly the same! The Revitalisng Dry Shampoo with UV Absorber is used to refresh your hair inbetween washes and to add a bit of volume. I only spritz this into the roots as my hair is thick and frizzy and definitely doesn't need any more volume. The Instant Shin Dry Conditioner is great for those who want to refresh between washes but don't want the obvious "I've used talc in my hair" look as it doesn't give the same effect in my opinion. The only days I wouldn't use this on is if I really couldn't get away with using dry shampoo on greasy hair as it would add shine where it wasn't desired.

I've worked in a salon and these little beauties were compared to "Botox for hair". In salons you use this with a syringe (without needle) to 'inject' the product into the roots and to massage it through the length of the hair to give it an 'oomph' whilst making it slightly thicker. I don't use a syringe for both the Intensive Shine Treatment Shots & Intensive Keratin Treatment Shots but follow instructions and they work every time. I have had Keratin treatments before but the aftercare products smell like bananas which I can't stand - so these are a great alternative.

You may recognise the rest of these products. Provoke have slightly rebranded and changed them to improve them. Although the Brightening Shampoo & Intensive Conditioner have decreased in size they are still as good quality! In my opinion, the only thing that has changed with these and the Colour Care Shampoo & Conditioner is that they are easier to get out of the tube! The conditioners aren't as thick which makes it a lot easier (especially someone who has a condition that makes gripping things sometimes painful!).

I've always enjoyed using the Touch Of Silver products and these have only improved. I had no idea they would be bringing out products that are used in salons or dry shampoo, although I probably should have expected it! The whole range (excluding the yummy m&ms) are available in Boots now!

My University Bucket List

I started Northumbria University in September 2012 and made a bucket list on paper and promised myself to do it. It was roughly 20 things and I wanted to achieve them by the time I graduated. Well, I graduated on the 9th July and I thought I'd see if I had completed everything I set out to do.. I thought I'd show you some of my list here. If you enjoy reading uni posts then I have some here such as Exam Tips and What To Take To Uni.

The List

1. Join the uni gym

So this only happened today! I signed up for 3.5 months for the remainder of my time in Newcastle for a membership at the uni gym. Not only is this to work out but to also go swimming, use the climbing wall and go to classes. I feel like a new person.

2. Get to grips with the new place

I definitely feel like I know Newcastle a lot more than I previously did. The only thing I knew prior to moving here was what happened on Geordie Shore... not the most credible source for information.

3. Make friends

I have written previous posts on bullying in my time at uni, but one thing I learned was that I can have people who are friendly and do care for me. I was treated quite badly in my second year at university for no particular reason in my shared house but since moving out my whole outlook on life has changed. I seem to have shaken the majority of my depression and I'm not as anxious. I went up to people and spoke to them and I made some close friends and some course friends.

4. Get a 2:1 in some assignments

After getting ABB in my A-levels I set myself a goal to gain some 2:1s in some assignments. There haven't been many but you know what, a law degree is hard work and is difficult to get your head around especially when there are external things going on. I've learned to be proud of all my grades.

5. Do something I would have never agreed to before

I went to a Benefit Cosmetics event with my uni friend Katie which I wouldn't have done before uni since I didn't have to confidence to. I went to a networking event with my course and met people who would have previously intimidated me. I also went on some mad nights out that I definitely would have agreed to.

6. Go to a lecture alone

I only succeeded in this in my final year! If my friends weren't going to a lecture I would head to the computers to do work, but picking modules alone meant that if I didn't go to the lectures then I wouldn't be able to complete my work. This was a huge step and I'm so proud that I accomplished it. It may seem little to some, but anxiety doesn't half surprise you.

7. Expand my cooking skills

I wasn't one of those people who believes they can't even make toast or use a microwave, I used to cook for myself a fair bit at home. But I wanted to learn to cook from scratch. Not to use a jar for my pasta, not to heat up a pizza and to make a gorgeous curry using tons of spices and herbs. And I did it. I love cooking even more now and would happily spend hours in the kitchen.

8. Go out in fancy dress

I went out as Spiderwoman, a dead ragdoll, a school girl, a dead bo peep and then some in first year!

9. Go out in a different city

I went out in Leeds in first year with friends which was completely different to Newcastle. A club inside an old church, the SU actually having a really good club and obscure pre-drink games.

10. Start off a new life

This wasn't completely intentional. I wanted to know what I wanted to do with my life, create some certainty and develop as a person. I never intended to meet someone and want a future with them, but I did. That person is Andy from Andrewmarksmith.co.uk and he is fab! Needless to say, I have still never kissed a random person in a club, nor had a one night stand because it just never happened. I'm so thankful anyway!

11. Have an amazing night out

I've been out when it's snowing, where there are stage games, seen people like Fatman Scoop and Verne Troyer. There have been nights where I've sang until my heart is content, or nights where I've had a right laugh. There is the occasional "screw this, let's get a subway" kind of night but they're still good nonetheless.

12. Complete a dissertation

I did it! And I'm so glad I never have to do it again. It was more enjoyable that my other modules since you got a bit stuck in, but the amount of proofreading, rewording, restructuring... Not worth the stress it put on my body!

13. Go to the SU

I have done - in first year. I don't think Northumbria's SU is anywhere near as good as other uni's like Leeds (where they have their own club inside!). I wish ours was bigger with more on than just the odd quiz or football match that I would never go to.

14. Get a job

Kind of true. I had a job at the end of my first year back home for a few months which was good but couldn't transfer back up to uni as it was too far away from where I was staying. I did also be one of those promotional flyer people outside a club for all of two nights before I decided that my 9am lectures were suffering and it wasn't worth being groped by drunk men for £12.50 a night.

15. Get out of my comfort zone

I did things I wouldn't have normally done, but not to extreme levels. I got the metro by myself (to a job interview, see I tried!) before I understood which route to take. Bare in mind I despise getting the bus into town at home, so this was a good step in the right direction. I even got a 4 hour train from Newcastle to Liverpool by myself which was something I really wasn't expecting to do (for some reason I didn't think during uni I would come home, including Christmas?!). I've met some lovely people by going up to them and starting a conversation, with pre-uni Laura seeming completely out of the picture.

16. Travel further outside of Newcastle

With Andy, I have been to Edinburgh for the day, been on day trips to Sunderland and Gateshead and even gone to conduct research for his dissertation in the Lake District for a week. Can definitely tick off this box!

17. Develop career skills

Not only did I learn to network due to being a law student, I feel I have learned more interpersonal skills and confidence. I don't feel nervous going into interviews anywhere near as much and I can sit down and solve a strangers problem at ease. I've given legal advice to other bloggers and to family. I've learned to think from different perspectives and not get wound up as I used to. I think my whole personality has developed and I'm a much more well rounded person.

18. Expand my love of writing

Here is the proof! I've been writing my blog for exactly half the time I spent in university. I've definitely expanded my skill set and I'm loving every minute.

19. Get to know myself a little better

Not like what you're thinking. I always used to doubt myself and be unsure of whether I was really being "me". I learned to not care as much what other people thought of me (including bullies) and really be who I want to be.

20. Figure out my future

Still need to decide what I want to do! The ultimate dream would be to work in fashion/beauty in magazines or online stores but this isn't achievable at the moment. For now, the job search is on and I'm hoping I'll get through the next round of graduate jobs to start working in a scheme in September 2016. Once I've returned to Liverpool properly after my holiday to Spain I'll be applying for retail jobs to pass the year by.

I ticked off all but one, typical!

Why I Love Blogging

Writing until my heart is content

I've always loved to write. Throughout school I achieved high grades in English and even achieved an A in my AS Level English Literature coursework piece, albeit was a creepy horror story but that's besides the point. If you give me a poem I can spend hours annotating and interpreting it. I never realised how much I loved English until I moved to University and no longer needed informal skills and it was all about professionalism. Through blogging I can write both formally and informally. I can write little chatty posts like this and keep going until I'm satisfied. I don't need to perfect it to make sure it's of good quality and there isn't the pressure you see in education to pass the exam, not to develop your skills.

Taking photos

Although the camera I use is actually my boyfriend's bridge camera, I've started to take a lot of photos for myself. He obviously takes outfit and face photos as I can't be in two places at one time. I've began to find my own style and edit the backgrounds on Photoshop since I don't own light boxes to get that diffused light effect. Not only has it made me appreciate the hard work that goes into taking photos but it's made me love my Instagram more!

Meeting people

I've only actually met two bloggers face to face and it took a lot of preparing. I have anxiety and it gets to me at the worst of times. No matter how you're feeling, I've met some amazing bloggers online who are there to talk to whenever we need each other.  If I'm in a blogging dilemma I usually talk to Gemma from Miss Makeup Magpie as she holds all the answers! Recently I was diagnosed with both Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Fibromyalgia and both Tania from When Tania Talks, Sarah from Sarah in Wonderland and Beth from Mermaid In Disguise have been absolute darlings in helping me come to terms with a new illness. For general chit chats about beauty and all things that come with it, my favourite bloggers are Abby from What Abby Loves, Katie from Katie's World of Beauty, Bex from Bex Renshaw and Jemma from Dorkface. All of these ladies are lovely and hopefully I'll have the chance to meet them in person one day!

Working with brands

Along with meeting some amazing bloggers online I've had the pleasure to work with some amazing brands in the nearly 1.5 years I've had of blogging. I've worked with Makeup Revolution a lot and had the pleasure to not only work with Benefit Cosmetics but have attended one of their events to the public as a blogger which was a great experience.  Having a beauty, fashion and lifestyle blog with the occasional food or travel post makes my experience blogging really amazing. Some of the opportunities I've had through blogging have been close to life changing and I love working with brands on a professional basis whilst being able to have a giggle now and again. After all, blogging should be an enjoyable experience.

A Pretty Home Needs A Pretty Garden | ad

Summer is here! The brighter evenings make you want to be outside for as long as possible in the warmth. Eating outdoors is also a plus, but only if you have lovely surroundings. As a student I had a yard and it made being outdoors pointless unless you visited a park. For my future home I'd love a huge garden that matched my interiors so I feel at ease. Having a personalised area both indoors and outdoors can reflect your personality, especially if you have space for that all important barbeque! Here are ten ways to make the most of your outdoor space?

1. Keeping it comfortable

It’s not true that outdoor furnishings have to be hard and impermeable. Of course, they can be if that’s what you need, but there’s are also so many gorgeous outdoor products that are both weather proof and comfortable. There's nothing worse than going out to enjoy the sun and sitting on a hard seat. The more inviting your outdoor space, the better. Especially if you’re going to use the area for entertaining and relaxing (or a get together!). Padded cushions, lounge seating, tons of pillows and alternative seating options will make the area perfect for spending long afternoons and late evening in your new favourite spot.

2. Envisaging the colours

Colour is a fundamental element of your patio and garden design. Be sure to choose a palette that makes sense and compliments your outdoor space. If you have a concrete jungle out back, try to incorporate a luscious green look to give a more natural vibe to your area. If you have a lot of plants already, consider the colour of your foliage and pick something that compliments them. Blue and white is a classic summer theme, and teaming it with some magenta border flowers is a sure fire hit. However, you’re never restricted or stuck with your scheme, you can change it in line with the seasons, if you so please. For me, sticking with neutral colours such as grey and white then adding a pop of colour (or two) makes the world of difference!

3. Plan, plan, plan

You can't get the perfect outdoor space without putting some thinking time into it. Your patio might be outside, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be functional as well as enjoyable. It’s ideal if you approach the area like you would any other living space. Having a plan is essential; treat it like an extension, or approach it how you would any other room. Plan a place to sit, to eat, to lounge and whatever else you have in mind for your garden area.

4. An extension to your living space

Yes it’s outdoors, but it doesn’t have to feel like it’s separate from everything inside. The perfect patio is just an extension of your internal space, adding to it’s ambiance and functionality. The patio can even be a visual compliment for your living room or kitchen area. Seeing your garden from indoors will make add to the quality of your home without the huge expense. For me, it will make me want to go outside even more. Adding bifold doors leading off from the adjoining room is an ideal way to make the space fluid and to create a truly perfect space for entertaining.

5. Extra life

Adding plants and flowers are a beautiful way to accentuate your garden. They make the space feel more alive and add that fresh, natural pop of colour. If you’re still developing your green thumb, succulents and cacti are great beginner plants as they live off very little water and are pretty indestructible! They look adorable in white pots too! Potted fruit trees, blooming bushes, and flower-pots take more effort and patience, so only take them on if you can devote a little extra time and love to nurture their development. If you plan a set area for your flowers and plants to grow in if you don't have the time can make managing them a lot easier.

6. Look around you

It might not be as obvious as what’s around you, but what’s underfoot is also very important to the feel of your space. Traditional floorings are usually wooden decking, slate or concrete slabs and gravel. Wooden decking and slate is great for those who want to clean quick without the fuss but keeping your garden looking gorgeous. If you do want to add an extra touch of style to your floor, how about adding a rug. They’re great ways to bring colour and design to the area, and don’t require too much maintenance. Whacking them to get the dirt off and releasing any pent up frustration can be pretty satisfying, too! Just make sure to bring it in if it rains!

7. Look up

Just as what you see underfoot is important, what you’re visually greeted by when you look up
can make or break the ambience and overall feel of your precious space. Fairy lights are a sweet touch to gazebos or umbrellas as they twinkle when the sun comes down. Pergolas offer a great way to hang accessories and plants, or you could try some hanging flower pots around the doorways, and even some wind chimes.

8. Light it up

Of course you want to make the most of the daylight, but you may also desire to use the space during the later hours, too. We’re lucky to have long evening for a few of months of the year, but who wants to restrict evening use to just this time frame. You could incorporate floor lighting into your decking, have some freestanding lamps. or even some hanging bulbs. Outdoor candle holders add a personal touch too!

9. Add some shade

Pergolas had a brief mention before, as did hanging plants, both of which are also excellent ways of creating shade alongside their aesthetic beauty value. Purchasing, or making your own canopy or roof top tent is also a fantastic way to increase the shaded areas in your new space, both of which are removable and not as permanent a feature as the pergola. You can add bunting or lights to add to your design to match your colour palette. They’re also great for entertaining and making sure your guests have somewhere to take refuge under if the heavens do unexpectedly open at the most inconvenient of times.

10. Making a statement

It can seem like a pretty large project to take on, but you mustn't be dismayed and feel like it all has to be done at once. The basic patio can take shape pretty easily and quickly, however, you can take your time in developing and adding to it as time goes on. A great way to get your patio project off the ground is to choose a large statement piece and then build around it.  Pick something you won’t get bored of after a couple of months, or something that you can update, change and add to as and when necessary, allowing you freedom to be creative and to have a fluid, changeable outdoor space. Pick your base colours and add pops of colour in items like cushions so you can switch them up when you're bored. The item could be a sofa, or table and chairs, a pergola or other structure that focuses the attention and gets your creative ideas flowing.

Do you have the perfect outdoor space?

I'm A Graduate!

You may have noticed I've been a little absent on my blog and social media the past week. It's been a busy week to say the least, because I graduated! I'm glad to be back blogging but I thought I'd fill you in on my week.

On Wednesday my family came around for dinner in mine and Andy's flat before going to their hotel (my nan stayed over with us) and we were tired from making sure the flat and ourselves were presentable. On Thursday I was up at 6am to start my hair and makeup. I originally planned on wearing my Hair Trade Extensions but it would have been too much messing around and went for straight hair. It was a small hassle to say the least when you have no idea where to collect your robes from, where you have to get your photo taken and which entrance you have to go through to graduate. My little sister has broken her leg too so we had to make sure my family had disabled access as she is in a wheelchair. Eventually, I graduated - I'm officially Laura Hadley LLB (Hons)!

After a quiet celebration with my family and Andy, we had to have an early night because it was his graduation on Friday. Luckily we weren't up as early as he had an afternoon graduation and we now knew exactly where to go to find his robes etc. At about 2:15 Andy graduated and is now Andrew Mark Smith BSc (Hons)! I'm so proud of both of us for getting our way through uni whilst dealing with some personal things at the same time.

Now for the next chapter of our lives. For now, we're both moving in with my family in Liverpool and will begin the job hunt from there. Andy knows what he wants from a career and will be utilizing his degree whereas I want nothing to do with Law as far as a job is concerned. Once we have saved enough we will be renting a house together and after that, another chapter will begin! We aren't those typical advertisements of graduates who can jump straight into a job and apartment straight from the university because these days that is a difficult job. We know that we both would love to work in the North West with dreams to tour America one day. We know exactly what we want from life and have done since the day we became a couple. Whilst we're open to suggestions it's safe to say we have it sussed. The summer will be spent enjoying a break from exams and dissertations and with a supportive family, we can slowly ease ourselves into graduate employment without the stress that really isn't needed.

I'm looking forward to the next chapter. It feels like I've been Andy's girlfriend for eternity and as soppy as it sounds, I'm loving every minute. It's not often these days you can genuinely not fault your other half. I didn't come to uni to find a boyfriend. I originally came to uni to train to be a solicitor and gain a Masters in Law. I dropped a year off so I gained the traditional Bachelors of Laws and I no longer want to go into that field. The best thing I gained from uni was my boyfriend and I'm thoroughly looking forward for us to continue our lives together.

Good luck to anyone graduating or receiving results this summer!

Saving My Skin - Dermatique Recuperating Cream Review

I don't like to discuss the negative aspects of my skin but sometimes it has to be done in order to find a solution. On one side of my family there has been acne and another there has been clear skin. This explains my skin. I started to get spots about the age of 12 before everyone else did and I was bullied for it throughout high school, despite me never telling anyone. I wore a full face of makeup when I started Year 8 just before I turned 13 and have done ever since. Aside from my uneven complexion and combination skin, I have scars from trying to get rid of spots quickly which isn't good. From the past few months, I've actually started to get back acne or bacne as I call it. I needed a fast solution and when I had the chance to review Dermatique's Recuperating Cream* £29.50 I lept at it, especially for my back.

The cream was created to restore hydration to the skin and to heal it at the same time. So aside from my spots, I have terribly sensitive skin. The day after I have shaved my legs, they become itchy until I make my legs bleed/produces tiny heat spots. It is a total nightmare and it knocks my self confidence like no other. After shaving and for the day after I apply this all over my body and the feeling of "aaaahhhh" overwhelms me. It's so refreshing to not have itchy or spotty skin! The formula isn't greasy so even if you apply it to your face it won't encourage spots there too.

For my back, it doesn't completely clear it up as the Recuperating Cream doesn't have steroids in it which would typically clear up your complexion. Aside from the brand Avene (the Xera calm cream does the same trick for my itchy legs) I haven't came across another brands that stops my legs feeling red raw or me trying to restrain myself from scratching. It is lovely to be able to apply this and know that I can wear a skirt will feel fine!

Overall I am really impressed with this cream and will be continuing to use it until I run out. The fact that it can reduce spots, scarring and heal skin makes it worth the money if I were to purchase the cream myself.

Product Testing - Makeup Revolution Contour Brush

As one of the new Product Testing Beauty Bloggers I gained the opportunity to review one of Makeup Revolution's new brushes; the Contour Brush*. As you can see from my photo I have a fair few makeup brushes already but as a brand I really enjoy using Makeup Revolution's products as you might be able to tell if you read my blog regularly. I've been working with them for over a year reviewing their beauty products but hadn't seen their brushes yet. The brush I'm reviewing today is their F105 Contour Brush (£3.49) which is made from synthetic hair and is vegan friendly I believe.

The brush is slanted to fit the shape of your cheeks and is best used with a powder product. The brush blends in bronzer delicately with the soft synthetic brushes. It's not one of those brushes where you rigorously use the brush to blend a product in so it looks incredibly natural due to the nature of the bristles. For this reason I like to use the brush instead to apply blush or highlight. For me, as a blonde gal, contouring must be doing to blend in flawlessly. I like using a stiffer brush to really 'get in there' and work away at the product to remove harsh lines for a natural looking glow.
I've started using this brush for my blusher on a daily basis as it packs on the right amount of product to really build up a blush for a rosy complexion. The shape of the brush fits the apples of my cheeks and you can blend the small amount of product seamlessly into the cheek. To highlight, I dip this in my Makeup Revolution Golden Sugar Palette and sweep the lightest shade all across the top of my cheekbones and under my brow bone. Just make sure you wash it in between using different products.
To wash the F105 Contour Brush I use my Mac Brush Cleanser and swirl it around then wash under warm water. It's important to dry your brush tilted downwards on a towel so any remaining water doesn't wear away the glue holding the bristles to your handle. This will then make sure you can use your brush for longer without having to buy a new one! Overall I do prefer to use this for blush and highlight, since it is a softer brush it doesn't have as greater impact to really buff in a product but is perfect for giving you a rosy glow!

Add A Little Music To Your Summer*

Aside from the festivals and holidays, whether you're at home or on a road trip, music makes your summer. No matter who you are or what type you listen to, making the perfect playlist can make the season more enjoyable. For me, I create multiple playlists so I don't get too bored. Before going to a festival I create a playlist full of all the bands I want to see so I can learn the lyrics in time. For a holiday I add more upbeat tunes which especially helps whilst packing. For at home, I listen to a large mix of music with the knowledge that I can change the song with the power of a button. Having a wireless speaker system helps, such as the Panasonic wireless speakers with the app that allows you to control your music from your phone or tablet.
To listen to music I tend to plug my phone into my speakers in my living room, but now the sun is out I want to be out in the garden and want to take my music with me. The problem I have is I have to leave my phone plugged into the speaker to listen to my music outside. The ideal alternative to this is for a wireless speaker to keep your perfect summer tunes on while you relax in the sun. You can't listen to all of your favourite songs at one time and with each activity comes a different playlist. Here are my top summer genres to make playlists for:

Festival

Your favourite bands playing all in one place. You can learn the lyrics before you go so when you're seeing the songs played live you can sing along.

Holiday

A mix of the latest dance songs and the best hits released in the past few years are the perfect way to enhance your holiday experience.

Old School

Although I was born in the early 90's I love listening to music from the 60's onwards. Featuring music from a range of decades that were summer hits makes sure people of all ages listen too.

Rock

Since I was little I've enjoyed listening to rock music. Nobody around me played it but if you gave me the remote I would sit and watch Kerrang on TV all day long. I could never get bored of rock since it is so upbeat with a lot of drums and guitar to add a bit of depth to a song.

Top 40

This is a given really but I really enjoy listening to the current top 40 hits in the UK. With a range of different genres and tempos there really is something for everyone. The top 40 during the summer has a few dance songs, some pop and some more down to earth songs - perfect for a BBQ.
Wireless speakers have been around for quite a while now, but if you really want to make the most of your music you need a decent speaker. The Panasonic wireless speaker lets you control your music via an app, so you can place the speaker inside your home and sunbathe in the garden listening to music, changing the song when you feel like it. Even though its a compact speaker, it produces a clear sound with rich bass to deliver the highest quality for your music.
What is your favourite summer playlist?

A Disappointing Product - Veet Facial Precision Wax & Care

Let me put this out there before we get onto the nitty gritty - I am a major wuss with my eyebrows. I was using a Nair hair remover that dissolved the hair which worked fine until it went out of date. I've had my eyebrows waxed before and it gives the longest lasting result in comparison to plucking or removing the hairs with a cream. I can't sit there and pluck my eyebrows though, it makes my eyes stream and with a lot of eyebrow hair I just can't do it. I bought this Veet Precision Wax & Care from my local Tesco last month to try out before taking some outfit photos so my eyebrows were defined and neat.

I followed the instructions just as it said and applied it to the hairs, used a fabric strip and pulled exactly as directed. It removed about three hairs. I repeated the process on each eyebrow until I'd used about 8 strips and had used a fair amount of wax. It barely looked like it had pulled any hairs out. So I decided to give it a go on another day to see if it would work again. It didn't. After two separate days and using nearly all of the fabric strips my eyebrows didn't look like they had had any wax anywhere near them and I was £8 down which could have been spent on getting them waxed professionally in a salon.

Don't get me wrong, I am all up for getting them waxed by a professional but since I have waxed eyebrows in the past I knew what I was doing. The wax isn't sticky or strong enough to rip the hairs out. I though since you can use this multiple times I could take it on holiday with me too but I definitely won't bother trying this out a third time. It's not worth aggravating my skin over.

The aftercare cream is absolutely fine and does the perfect job of cooling down the area and moisturising it to make sure your skin isn't too red. It doesn't affect makeup application either which is always good when you're in a rush after you've spent 20 minutes trying to rip your stray brow hairs out. I've definitely learned my lesson and will go back to the hair removal cream, at least that doesn't hurt!
