Tom Ford Ultra-Rich Lip Color Mini Review

I've not long picked up Tom Ford's Ultra-Rich Lip Color in Les Mepris which was a beauty buy from Sephora near Rodeo Drive which you may have seen featured in my Spring & Summer lipstick post. It's so beautiful and did break the bank a little at £39 but it was totally worth it. I was in Sephora with full intentions on doing a huge splurge and boy did I spend a lot. All for good cause, as I saved and saved for so long to be able to throw away money like it was no tomorrow whilst I was in LA. I've always wanted a Tom Ford lipstick as they're so glamorous, but as a 22 year old graduate it wasn't something I was expecting to get my hands on for quite a few years. I had completely forgotten about Tom Ford being stocked in Sephora until I walked past a stand in the final shop I went in and was so excited that I may have done a little dance.
I had no idea what colour to choose from and I didn't even know what the lipstick would be like but I knew I wanted one. There were only around 5 lipsticks to choose from as they were on an end of aisle stand but the one featured was Les Mepris which is French for Contempt, and the colour was just so beautiful. I envisaged myself in the summer with my long blonde hair curled, a tan on my skin and the most shimmery highlighter on, wearing this lipstick. When it comes to lip colours I tend to have three variations: nudes, dark vampy colours and really bright colours that exclude Barbie pink. If you're blonde like me there's a good chance you haven't worn a hot pink lipstick since you were 14 as you can't stand being called Barbie. This colour however, is a bright pink with more coral undertones which currently match my nails.
The packaging is simple and looks expensive. It's heavier than a normal lipstick and has the TF embossed into the lipstick which I've already started to wear away. The shape of the bullet means you can really get into the corners and bow of your lips without getting it everywhere or massively overdrawing them and it makes a change having not having a circular bullet too. Would I buy another one? Yes. But it would have to be the perfect bold red shade but aside from that I'm pretty happy with my extensive Mac Lipstick Collection until I win the lottery.

Lipsticks For Spring & Summer

Not everyone adores liquid lipsticks and although I do, sometimes a good traditional lipstick is what you need, especially in the warmer months. They're easier to apply and come in a range of finishes to suit every skin colour. No matter what you read online, you'll always hear articles telling you what you should wear depending on your skin or hair colour, but I really couldn't give one. You'll never find one set opinion so why not just go for what you feel like? During the summer months I'm much more prone to mixing up my makeup game, especially when it comes to which lip colour to wear. You may know I'm already a pretty big fan of Mac lipsticks along with every other beauty lover so it was clear I was going to include some of their lippies here.

For bright lips

I opt for Mac's Lady Danger although it is extremely similar to Mac's Viva Glam Miley Cyrus II that I also own but it's such a stand out colour and doesn't disappoint. On photos it comes across more red but is definitely in the orange side of lipsticks and lasts for a while. I just need to find the perfect lip pencil. I've been using my Makeup Revolution Amazing Eyeliner in Vice but as it's a duo product it doesn't stay creamy and has dried up a bit since I began using it a year ago.

For muted lips

Try The Estée Edit by Estée Lauder's On Point which is described as a 'Nude Berry' that provides a bold colour whilst hydrating the lips. To cut it short it does exactly what it says on the tin on the outer packaging as it contains Jojoba oil and various other oils making up 20% of the product. To be perfectly honest, if I was looking for the perfect matte lipstick I would head over to a liquid lipstick but when it's warm I need a product to keep my lips fresh and this does it's job without being too over the top.

For coral lips

I use Tom Ford's Ultra-Rich Lip Color in Les Mepris which I've only just started using as it's so beautiful and did break the bank a little at $52 (£35ish, or £39 when bought in the UK). You may have seen this when browsing through my American Makeup Haul post where I decided to spend my money all in Sephora and Ulta and this was actually one of the last products I bought. As I was wandering through the Sephora near Rodeo Drive I saw this and my jaw dropped open. Although I have my fair share in high end makeup, I never allow myself to buy lipsticks that cost over the £25ish mark as it does seem a little ridiculous. Nevertheless I saw the opportunity and I grabbed it, picking up this long lasting lipstick that is both moisturising and bold at the same time.

For usual lips

Mac's Up The Amp is another contender for a different type of lip colour for the summer. It's lilac in nature but I have quite pigmented pink lips so it allows my natural colour to shine through, creating the most beautiful pink-purple shade. Again I use a Makeup Revolution Amazing Eyeliner in Depraved but it is drying so I need to hunt down a lip liner to replace it. This colour looks so pretty with glowing skin and blonde hair so if you're looking for a non-pink Barbie esq lipstick, you should try this out.
