How We Met | Laura & Andy

I've just came back from a little romantic trip to Paris with Andy and since to the date, I've known him 2 years today, it would be a cute little post to show how we met and where we are up to now.

We met on 15/09/2012 as we had been allocated the bedrooms next to each other in our flat in student accommodation. I'd found the rest of the flatmates on Facebook a few days before moving in and meeting everyone, but Andy didn't seem to have found any. After all the calamity of moving things in, doing food shops and awkwardly saying hello to everyone, I ended up having a conversation with his Dad, who seemed to be very proud of his son, which I thought was so lovely. He studied Law in uni like I was about to, and he was quizzing me on why I had pink hair.

I can't recall speaking to Andy that day, as we ended up going out that evening, and near enough every other evening for the next two weeks. He seemed shy at first, but very much my cup of tea. Humour, similar interests aside from football that is, and having little chats during the day made us very close friends shortly after freshers week. The third week in, it was his birthday and looking back on the pictures of us, you can tell we were close.

Andy's 19th.

I ended up referring to his as my 'best friend' despite us never saying anything. I was really fond of him and as cheese-worthy as it may sound, I felt I could go to him about everything. Now I may add, I did have a boyfriend at the time. He had been up to visit and chatted with Andy too. Once February came, the relationship ended. In January I began to get mixed feelings about everything. I'd helped Andy revise for his exams (geography is nothing like law, but he asked me too) and everything seemed like a blur. Being perfectly honest, I feel like my last relationship had grown into more a routine with friends than an adult relationship. I didn't inform Andy of everything I was feeling as depsite him being flirty, I didn't want to give him the wrong signals, or hurt his feelings.

Finally, I told Andy and the rest of the flat that I began to develop feelings for him and he was quite shocked, to say the least. Once my relationship was over, we had a little chat about things and I told him the last relationship was completely over, it was mutual and we remained friends (for a few months). He told me he liked me too.

February 2014, look how different we look!

Flirting became increasingly often and we began to hold hands and go for walks together to chat to get away from everyone. I still feel like he is exactly the same person I met and became best friends with, we laugh about the stupidest of things, for instance, he pulled out my Spanx and said "what on Earth are these" and I was keeled over laughing at his reaction. Ever since we admitted we liked each other, the time has absolutely flown by.

He took me for a walk to the Quayside in Newcastle for a 'chat', but before we'd left I knew exactly what was coming and even texted two friends haha! He asked me out and I said "yep" and it became official and on Facebook that night, otherwise it doesn't count apparently.

Now a week ago, we've moved into our first flat together as a couple, have been on little holidays together and are already planning a possible trip for next summer to America (if I get a job, hint hint employers?). It has been so nice and relaxed, no matter how many plates and bowls we've had to transport, boxes to unpack and re-pack for Paris etc. We're both pretty laid back and tend to have a laugh about most things, and he is such a genuine person. I don't want to make anyone else sound bad, but Andy definitely is right for me; I truly couldn't imagine myself elsewhere.

I know he will read this too (Hi Andrew!) but I thought it would be the cherry on top of our perfect past week and a half moving into our flat and going to Paris together, to just think back on how we first met and became a couple. I absolutely adore his family too, and it feels normal to go to his family home and stay over. It doesn't happy very often, as I'm from Liverpool and he is from Chesterfield, and we live together in Newcastle, but I'd go to any of his family members if I ever needed anything and I love the bones out of them all.

On top of the Arc de Triomphe.

I think it's cute to remember how you and your boyfriend/girlfriend began your relationship. We started off as complete strangers living together in student halls, to flirting together, being in a relationship and then living together just us two in our own little home. It feels perfect and I wouldn't change anything (apart from when you move my things).

York: Anniversary Trip Away!

Hey lovelies, it's been a while! Apologies for late posting but I went away with my boyfriend for our 1 year Anniversary in York!

Just want to put it out there that he is absolutely amazing (be jel) and I was so lucky to be able to go on this trip with him. We did so many things but I never took pictures of everything as I wanted to spend some quality time with him.

Anyway, here are some snaps of things we did:

Andy relaxing in the National Rail Museum

A 'Hogwarts Castle' train! Clearly I was quite surprised to see this...

Our room in the Travellodge. We did have some issues - they moved us to a different hotel and it wasn't ideal as I still haven't been 100% with walking, so they paid four our taxi and gave us complimentary breakfasts for the next day, with the catch that we had to walk back to the original hotel to receive them... We resolved the issue a few days later over email.

We went the Chocolate Story where we learnt about the history of Rowntrees and other big brands! Our favourite bit (obviously)  was where we got to make our own chocolate bars to take back with us. Andy had strawberry and chocolate swirls with smarties, and I went for just the swirls. It was so nice!
We also received chocolate tasters as we went around the tour, such as dark chocolate from when chocolate was first produced here, original chocolate which was like a really bitter but watery chocolate milk, quality street chocolate and a slab of dark chocolate.

Cheeky anniversary picture! You can't tell as much from this picture, but Andy is 6ft 4" and I am 5ft 4" so there is a bit of height difference! This was before dinner.

Strawberry Daiquri in Jamie's Italian. Andy had never been before and said he had the most amazing steak and chips with coleslaw (so check it out) and I had my usual bolognaise. We are also Gold Club members so we received a little taster too!

Clifford's Tower which remains from the original York Castle.

Yes I got excited by the huge teddy bear and the Panda teddies inside! This was closed by the time we got there though (sob!) but they have a really cute tea room upstairs!

York Minster (a Cathedral)

Wasn't that hungry for lunch but had a sweet tooth...

Views from the YorkBoat tour.

We also visited:
York Dungeons
York Sightseeing Bus
Jorvik (Viking Centre)

We also did a little bit of shopping and Andy bought me the cutest little plaque for our new flat from Paperchase (here) as a little anniversary present.

Aside from the hotel annoyance, the trip was amazing and I'm so glad we got to escape from revision and uni work for 2 days and spend some more time together!

We are looking at going on another trip soon, so if you have any suggestions please feel free to let me know!

Boyfriend/Girlfriend Tag

Hey lovelies. So I know I like doing tags, but thought it would be cute to do the boyfriend/girlfriend tag so you can get to know both me and Andy a little better!

We plan on doing the 'boyfriend does my makeup tag' when we have a bit more time, but until then, here are the questions:

1) Where did we meet?

We met on the first day that we moved into our university 1st year accommodation. We were allocated bedrooms next to each other (mixed sex halls).

2) Where was our first date?

April/May 2013 but we had already been 'officially' boyfriend and girlfriend by this point

3) What was your first impression of me?

He said quiet, kind with a similar personality to his
I thought he was quiet too and well spoken!

4) When did you meet my family?

Briefly May 2013 but properly, and staying over in mine was July 2013
I met his family in June 2013

5) Weird habit of each other?

My weird habit is hiccuping a lot, and his weird habit is he doesn't like anything leaning off the edge of things, such as a phone only half on a desk, he has to fix it immediately

6) How long have we been together?

11 months

7) Do we have any traditions?

We like going down to the river with a sandwich, we always have tea together and watch a programme during it, we probably have more but I can't think!

8) An animal that resembles one another?

He says I resemble a panda because I'm cute, cuddly and lazy.
I think he resembles a dog, he is quite cute, he loves his food, and he is loyal.

9) What was our first roadtrip?

We've not really had one! Unless you count going on trains...

10) First thing you noticed about me?

I had pink hair

11) What pisses him off?

When he is trying to revise or do work and I sing really badly to annoy him

12) Favorite feature about each other?

My favourite feature about him has got to be his kindness. He looks after me well.
His favourite feature is that he thinks I'm cute.

13) 3 things I am good & not good at?

Good at: reading people's emotions, cheering people up, being motivated when I want to be
Not good at: tidying, taking a compliment, taming my frizzy baby hair (really annoys him)

Andy is good at: getting good grades, knowing a lot about geography that I don't understand, making me laugh
Not good at: being on time, resisting food, picking good username/email names

14) What do we argue about the most?

Plans. I love planning in advance and get a bit moody sometimes when things don't go as planned, I'd say they were disagreements though, not a full blown argument.

15) Do I have PMS?

No

16) Who wears the pants in the relationship?

Andy. Definitely.
I have a more bossy personality but he makes the decisions :)

17) Do I have any weird obsessions?

Milkshake. I almost got addicted to Nesquik last year and he made me go cold turkey. That was a sad day.

18) Nicknames for each other?

Babs, Babby. We call each other the same things but that's because he called me them first. When we are messing around texting we sometimes say goodbye as "tra hunni oxoxoxo" but that isn't a nickname

19) What is my favourite restaurant?

Frankie and Benny's

20) If I am watching TV, what am I watching?

Pretty Little Liars

21) What is one food I do not like?

Bananas

22) What drink do I order when we go out to eat?

Fanta or Rosé

23) What size of shoe do I wear?

4/5

24) My favorite kind of sandwich?

Chicken Tikka with Mayo

25) What is one talent I have?

I can burp then hiccup, or hiccup then burp quite a lot

26) What would I eat everyday if I could?

Savoury: Chicken Tikka Masala
Sweet: Kinder Bueno

27) My favorite cereal?

Maple and Pecan Crisp Cereal by Tesco

28) My favorite kind of music?

He doesn't know specifically but knows I love Bastille

29) My favorite sports team?

Liverpool FC (obvs)

30) What is my eye color?

Blue
Andy has brown/green eyes which are adorable

31) Who is my best friend?

Katy from Liverpool

32) Something you do that I wish you didn’t do?

He wishes I didn't throw my things everywhere in his room
I wish he wouldn't 'fanny around' when we need to go somewhere

33) Where am I from?

Liverpool

34) What kind of cake would you bake me on my birthday?

Toffee
I'd bake him a chocolate cake.

35) Do I play any sports?

He said no, not anymore

36) What can I spend hours doing?

Nothing
He could spend hours on his PS3

Hope you all enjoyed this! If you would like to see more boyfriend/girlfriend things in the future leave a comment!
I'd love for anyone else to one of these tags as I love reading them!

#18 My favourite author is Richard Montanari. If you love crime/thriller books then check his Byrne/Bolzano character series out. I'm hooked.

#21 I've never climbed a tree before. Seriously feel like I'm missing out
