Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Nudes Collection With Swatches

I am well and truly guilty for being a liquid lipstick hoarder. As soon as the trend hit I wanted to try every brand and every shade available. The first major chance I had to stock up on some was in Los Angeles last year, and included in my haul was two mini Kat Von D Everlasting Lipsticks and the full sized version in Lolita. I loved the formula and for Christmas I received the Everlasting Miniature Set ($49) that was available from Sephora that included 8 mini Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. Kat Von D have recently released their Nudes Collection in 6 nude shades, with one to suit everyone and they kindly set two shades for me to try, Crucifix and Hawkwind.

I'm a pale gal, so these two shades are definitely not 'nudes' to me, but I like the shades regardless. There are six shades in the Nudes Collection; Crucifix, Hawkwind, Ophelia, Ludwig, Muneca and Sanctuary. Crucifix is the darkest shade in the collection and is a deep brown, Hawkwind is more of a nutmeg shade, Ophelia is pink/brown nude, Ludwig is a mauve, Muneca is a light peachy-pink, and Sanctuary is a darker mauve. These are just 6 shades out of a total 43 available and I think Ludwig would be my perfect nude out of all of them as although I'm quite fair, my lips are a bit darker than you'd expect.

The formula has impressed me since I first tried Lolita, and they're creamy in nature and try fairly quickly to reveal a matte finish. When I've worn the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks they've never flaked off but some shades are more opaque than others, but Crucifix and Hawkwind are very much true to colour and try opaque. No matter where I go, I always bring the lip colour I'm wearing with me just in case but I can't recall every re-applying these. They claim 24-hour wear but to be honest I've not worn any lipstick longer than about 16 hours and they're not as perfect by the end of the day as they were when first applied. 

I've compared the swatches of Crucifix and Hawkwind to two other Everlasting Liquid Lipstick shades in my collection; Lolita and Plath, to show what the shades look like. All of the shades dry really well without dehydrating the lips as they contain Vitamin E and Sunflower Seed Wax as natural moisturisers. I noticed that Plath doesn't dry as opaque like I mentioned before, but thought it was worth showing a few similar shades out to aid people looking for their perfect nude. For the best results. Kat Von D Beauty recommends shaking the products well before application for the best results.

Christmas Lipstick Picks

When it comes to Christmas makeup I always tend to go for glittery eyeshadows and making sure my brows are just right, but picking a lipstick is always a tough one. Do I pick out a liquid lipstick that would last all day but might go flakey? Do I stick with a regular lipstick that will probably end up on my chin after I've eaten the biggest roast potato I can find? One thing is for sure; I always pick a shade of red.

When I first started wearing makeup I had three lip options, the first was a baby pink lip gloss that was perfect for every situation or at least in my teenage mind anyway, a hot pink cheap lipstick so I could look like Barbie, and finally a bright red lipstick that had barely any product left in the bullet. When I began blogging I amassed plenty of lipsticks and I started wearing more nudes, more matte shades and the occasional really bright colour. Nowadays I almost force myself to pick a red shade as it feels like it's out of my comfort zone. This Christmas I am opting for a red lip partly out of force and also to be festive.

Traditional Lipsticks The newest lipstick I have is a Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Colour in Red Carpet which is such a stunning classic red. This type of red I think looks create with every skin colour and is very similar to Mac Cosmetics Lipstick in Ruby Woo. For a deeper, more purple toned red, I love the Nars Audacious Lipstick In Charlotte which I'm still weighing up whether it will go with my dress which is light pink. The Nars lipsticks are so luxurious, and the magnetic packaging is so satisfying to open and close. For more affordable lipsticks, try L'Oréal Paris Color Riche Lipstick in Blake's Red. Chosen by Blake Lively, it's another true red but at a cheaper price. Another choice is the Kiko Intensity Lavish Lipstick in Luscious Red which has one of the creamiest formulas I've ever seen, plus the pretty rose gold packaging too.
Liquid Lipsticks 2016 has been the year of liquid lipsticks, and there are so many to choose from. I have a few selected brands what work every single time. My favourite brand has to be Too Faced for liquid lipsticks, and their Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Velvet is in a tube packaging with a sponge applicator to create a price finish without air getting into the packaging. Another of their products is the Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in the shades Lady Balls (a bright red) and Drop Dead Red (a deep, deep red). A shade I'm actually yet to wear (oops) is the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in 03. I've already worn another Sephora Cream Lip Stain and loved it so picked another up when I was in LA. For the most affordable liquid lipstick is the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Amsterdam which is such a lovely shade and is actually really small so can fit into any bag too. 
So what should I go for, traditional or liquid lipstick? It's probably going to be one of those spare of the moment decisions on Christmas morning and I'll end up taking a few with me in case I change my mind too like I usually do.

Urban Decay Blackmail Vice Lipstick Palette - Review And Swatches

As you will probably know if you're a regular here, I bloody love Urban Decay. So when the Blackmail Vice Lipstick Palette* (£31.50) landed on my doorstep, I was intrigued to see what the palette would look like and how good the lipsticks would be. I've already reviewed some Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks so I knew what some of the finishes and colours were available, but they were only sample sizes so you only get a rough idea. When it comes to Urban Decay lipsticks, you can never have too much, so they've introduced the Blackmail Vice Lipstick Palette; the ultimate fix for lipstick junkies.

You can indulge your vice with a dozen from the huge Vice collection, no matter what you're in the mood for. In this palette there are shades with all six finishes, with cult favourite shades like Firebird (deep fuchsia cream), 714 (bright red mega matte), 1993 (medium brown matte), Conspiracy (plum-bronze shimmer) and Blackmail (deep berry matte). Firebird was one of my favourite choices from the samples I reviewed back in July and I love that there is the shade 1993 which is my birth year in it. The lipsticks are pigmented and with one swatch you can see the colour payoff, no matter what the finish is. Every shade applies smoothly with no dragging, to really hug the lips. Even typing this I'm currently wearing Ex-Girlfriend which is the perfect nude for my lips, and I keep rubbing them together as it feels like you're wearing a moisturiser.

The thing I love most about this palette is the fact that it's a palette - if I go away even for a weekend I am one of those people who can't decide what clothes to take and what lipsticks to take, so I over pack and end up lugging more things around than I need to. Wende at UDHQ took a poll to see how many lipsticks her employees had in their makeup bag and some had as many as nine, so to solve the problem she created the Blackmail Vice Lipstick Palette. MAC Hot Gossip Review

You may have seen that in June I was in London for a few days for a little trip! I never got round to posting my final installment in the series but I thought I show what I cheekily managed to pick up in Covent Garden - my first MAC Lipstick!

After spending wayyyyyyyy to long swatching different lipsticks, lusting after Heroine and Lady Danger, I decided to go for a more pink-nude toned lipstick that I know I will get a lot of use out of, I can buy more adventurous colours once I know I love MAC lipsticks, which I now do.

I had already used this (sorry, my bad!) but the original photos I had taken really didn't show how lovely this lipstick looks. I swatched over 20 lipsticks in the MAC store and decided to go for a pinky-nude. There was no point in me reviewing a really bold colour for my first lipstick as I wanted to see how much I actually loved the finish. There is a bit of shimmer to it, but in the most flattering way.

I think another good MAC nude toned lipstick would be Creme Cup which I had my eye on too, but I had a spending limit (as it was a mini trip to London) so I couldn't go overboard. I don't think my boyfriend would have appreciated even more time in the MAC store too!

Sorry for my poor photo taking skills, but this photo was taken once I had gotten home. I don't usually look this tanned.  I love that it is a cream sheen lipstick, as if my lips are a tiny bit dry, I won't panic about how they look, compared to buying a matte lipstick. I luckily picked this up before MAC raised their prices to £15.50 per lipstick.

I did notice that it didn't last all day, but unless you buy a lip stain, they don't tend to. I know some people will be disappointed that I didn't opt for a signature red or a bold coral colour like Lady Danger but I think it is so important to invest in a lipstick for a natural or "no makeup makeup" look.

 I think it is a lovely colour but for how long it lasts and I love investing in more expensive products as it is worth it for the quality. I now have my eye on Rebel for my next one!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Samples

If you're a regular reader of mine you'll already now that Urban Decay is one of my favourite brands. What you'll also notice is that I've never actually tried any of their lip products. I have my fair share of eye products including my much loved De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray that I use daily during the summer months. I've recently been trying to figure out how many lipsticks I actually own, and counted over 40 bullets and 30 liquid lipsticks and there is quite an obvious trend with the colours I've picked up in the past two years. Variety. I'm a person who doesn't exclusively enjoy one shade or finish of lipstick - I love them all.

At about 1.30pm today I opened my door to see this cute little purple package. It contained 24 of the Vice Lipstick (£15.00) samples and a bag of lipstick sweets. I really enjoy trying out sample sized versions of products, especially when you get to see nearly a quarter of the whole lipstick range. That's right, the Vice Lipstick collection contains 100 shades featured 6 indulgent finishes. The shades range from bold brights, nudes, subtle and dark colours. They have such a huge assortment, featuring more finishes than they made previously. These include Mega Matte, Comfort Matte, Cream, Metallized, Sheer and Sheer Shimmer.  Now if I was stood in front of the Urban Decay counter I would be lost for words, spending hours trying to pick out which shades to try.

Every shade is designed to go on smoothly, be super-creamy due to the Pigment Infusion System, have colour that lasts and encourage long-lasting moisture. This is down to a few key ingredients such as aloe vera, jojoba, avocado and babassu oils, illipe butter and vitamins C and E that help nourish the lips and leave them feeling better than before. The individual packaging of the bullets has even been modernised, with the image of a shotgun shell left in your mind. With debossed lettering and a gold base, not only the lipstick screams luxury. To go with the Vice Lipsticks, there are 50 Lip Pencils (£13.50) to lock in your lipstick and prime the lips. Now from using their 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil in Legend, I know the formula will be easy to apply and creamy in texture.

Out of the 24 shades in this sample pack,  my favourite shades from just looking at them are Pandemonium, Jilted, Firebird, Disturbed, Snitch, Conspiracy, Rapture and ZZ. I'm so happy that there are six different finishes as it means each lipstick can be worn for different occasions or even depending on what the weather is like. I have trust in Urban Decay that even the Mega Matte shades won't be drying on the lips, leaving my lipstick in place all day. I can't wait to play around with the shades to get a feel for them and create new makeup looks with my Urban Decay palettes and there will be a lot of looks given that I have at least 5 palettes. And of course, I'll be looking at Ruby Rose for inspiration.

1. what is your favourite balm or treatment?

I love my Neutrogena lip balm. I don't really have many treatments or balms but this one works great and right now I wouldn't swap it for anything.

2. what is your favourite eye catching red?

Probably Blake's Red from L'Oréal Paris. It is the perfect shade for blondes and looks stunning on the lips. Saying this, I've just had Ruby Woo as a present so my mind might change soon!

3. the best luxury and drugstore product?

I adore my Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Love Liberty. The packaging is stunning, the shape of the lipstick is unique and the formula is dreamy. It doesn't dry out the lips and is a perfect deep red. My favourite drugstore product is probably Eva's Pink from L'Oréal Paris, the colour pay off is next to none and it's only £6.99.

4. best mac lipstick?

I've just received three for my birthday so haven't had a chance to test them out yet, but at the moment it has to be Rebel. Such a cliche but it is a stunning colour and perfect for Autumn. As it gets colder and into the Winter months it will probably be Pure Heroine.

5. most disappointing lip product?

It has to be the MUA Luxe liquid lipsticks. I wore the one I have last Winter when going to the Christmas Market in Newcastle and within seconds of eating a churro nearly all the lipstick had came off and I was left with an outline around my lips and nothing else. I was so disappointed. I didn't bring it with me either so had to attempt to rub the rest off so I didn't look odd. I'd never buy them from MUA again.

6. lip liner: yes or no?

Yes! Why would you not use a lip liner? It prevents the lipstick bleeding, helps the staying power and can also add to the colour. It can intensify the colour or you can add a ombre lip with lip liners. I am currently on the hunt for some more liners, maybe Mac or Nars ones...

7. favourite gloss?

Definitely the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Mega Gloss. No stickiness, they look like a shinier lipstick and they last for about 4 hours without smudging. I stayed far away from lipglosses before this, and now I have bought it in another shade.

8. something else?

I'd love some recommendations for new brands or products to try out. I'm currently loving the Bourjois liquid matte lipsticks and have just bought the Makeup Revolution liquid lipstick gift set for Christmas and will be trying them out soon.

Tom Ford Ultra-Rich Lip Color Mini Review

I've not long picked up Tom Ford's Ultra-Rich Lip Color in Les Mepris which was a beauty buy from Sephora near Rodeo Drive which you may have seen featured in my Spring & Summer lipstick post. It's so beautiful and did break the bank a little at £39 but it was totally worth it. I was in Sephora with full intentions on doing a huge splurge and boy did I spend a lot. All for good cause, as I saved and saved for so long to be able to throw away money like it was no tomorrow whilst I was in LA. I've always wanted a Tom Ford lipstick as they're so glamorous, but as a 22 year old graduate it wasn't something I was expecting to get my hands on for quite a few years. I had completely forgotten about Tom Ford being stocked in Sephora until I walked past a stand in the final shop I went in and was so excited that I may have done a little dance.
I had no idea what colour to choose from and I didn't even know what the lipstick would be like but I knew I wanted one. There were only around 5 lipsticks to choose from as they were on an end of aisle stand but the one featured was Les Mepris which is French for Contempt, and the colour was just so beautiful. I envisaged myself in the summer with my long blonde hair curled, a tan on my skin and the most shimmery highlighter on, wearing this lipstick. When it comes to lip colours I tend to have three variations: nudes, dark vampy colours and really bright colours that exclude Barbie pink. If you're blonde like me there's a good chance you haven't worn a hot pink lipstick since you were 14 as you can't stand being called Barbie. This colour however, is a bright pink with more coral undertones which currently match my nails.
The packaging is simple and looks expensive. It's heavier than a normal lipstick and has the TF embossed into the lipstick which I've already started to wear away. The shape of the bullet means you can really get into the corners and bow of your lips without getting it everywhere or massively overdrawing them and it makes a change having not having a circular bullet too. Would I buy another one? Yes. But it would have to be the perfect bold red shade but aside from that I'm pretty happy with my extensive Mac Lipstick Collection until I win the lottery.

Seventeen Mega Matte Lipsticks

I'm a huge sucker for a good lipstick. When it comes to picking out which lipstick I want to wear or buy, the main things that stand out for me are pigmentation and lasting power. Seventeen have recently brought out the Mega Matte Lipsticks* (£4.49) in 12 different colours from nudes to brights and today I'll be talking about the three shades that I have here. All of the lipsticks possess long lasting power for up to 13 hours with high impact to glide on smoothly for pout perfecting colour. The packaging is sleek and looks like it should be worth a price similar to what a Mac lipstick is worth and is definitely a good product to show off what Seventeen is all about.

The three shades that I'm reviewing are Nude News, No Corals and Violet Summer. Seventeen have actually made a colour wheel to determine what shades would match your skin tone best but have also said that lipsticks are meant to be worn to give you confidence and let you have fun so I picked one to match my skin tone and two that are more fun. Nude News is such a true nude with a light pink/mauve undertone that looks beautiful with or without a lip liner. It's definitely more of an everyday lipstick and with it being matte it lasts longer than a creamy lipstick so you don't need to worry about it coming off when you're eating your lunch.

No Corals is my favourite shade and I've been loving and is very similar to the Tom Ford Ultra Rich Lip Color which is around ten times the price of this. They're both matte finishes with high pigmentation and look so pretty with a tan. If I were to recommend either of them it would be to try out the Seventeen alternative as you can barely tell the difference on the lips and you can save yourself a lot of money and pick up more of the Seventeen shades whilst you're at it.

The final shade is Violet Summer which is actually the shade that my boyfriend picked out for me as he knows I like bold and bright shades, but said he thought it would look good against my blonde hair throughout the whole year. As we slowly approach Autumn I know I'll be wearing this more often and I think this is best applied with the Seventeen Lip Brush* (£2.49) which is an absolute bargain for a lip brush. Along with the bright brush handle which makes it look like it should be worth around £10, it's small enough to apply the lipstick evenly and precisely. It's made of 100% synthetic hair so is cruelty free and I wash this the same way I wash the rest of my brushes.

On Boots.com you can actually buy these lipsticks for £3.49 at the moment and can receive a free gift when you spent £6 of more on Seventeen products. If you bought two lipsticks you'd save £2 and receive the Seventeen Superlash Mascara worth £6.99 (currently £3.99) which is such a bargain. I've demoted some of my lipsticks that were on top of my makeup storage and replaced them with these three lipsticks as I'm getting so much wear out of them lately. Other shades I'd really recommend you try out are Rioja Your World, Looking Buff and Lava You Lot. Barry M is known for his theatrical make-up shades. Browsing the collection it’s not unusual to spot sun yellow nail polish and neon green eyeliner, so this lilac shade of lipstick hardly a shocker. Charlotte Tilbury Lipsticks For Valentine's Day

With less than a week to go, Valentine's Day is going to be my best one yet. I'm engaged, I'm far more confident than I was a year ago and I've been stepping my makeup game up a notch. Why bother showcasing a ton of lipsticks to wear that I probably won't pick out on the day, when I can show you some of the highest quality ones? I tend to go for either of two lip colours on days like Valentine's; a simple nude in case I smudge my lippy all over my face, or a bold red whilst remembering that I need to consume all drinks with a straw. Either way, here are a few shades I'd personally recommend from Charlotte Tilbury.

The two red shades I love are both from the Matte Revolution range; Love Liberty and Red Carpet Red. Love Liberty is described as a 'berry pink matte lipstick' but definitely comes off more red-pink on my lips. It has rosy undertones which make it quite different from the classic bold red shade if that's what you prefer. Red Carpet Red is a 'true ruby red matte lipstick' and screams glamour from the old Hollywood days. The main reason I love the Matte Revolution lipsticks is that it softens and protects the lips to hydrate them, so you have a matte finish without completely drying them out like a lot of other matte lippies. They're long-lasting thanks to the oils, waxes and triglycerides and you can precise application from the angled tip so even when the lipstick wears down you'll still have that square tip. I tend to use a Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat liner underneath and the colours stay bold and bright. Other great reds from Charlotte Tilbury are So Marilyn (a bombshell red), Shanghai Nights (a deep rich sultry red), Dangerous Liaison (a warm rusty rose) and Legendary Queen (a soft neutral wine).

If you're more of a nude-coloured gal, shades like Bitch Perfect from the K.I.S.S.I.N.G range are perfect. Bitch Perfect is a peach-toned nude and really brings out my blue eyes and pale skin. I think nudes really differ depending on your skin colour but then again, you should wear whatever shade you want. The K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipsticks have light-diffusing pigments to give your lips a multi-dimensional finish to capture the light and reflect it back for a full-bodied effect. The 'Lipstick Tree extracts' nourish the lips to protect them from UV damage and keeps them lovely and smooth. They also contain a special blend of waxes to make the lipstick glide over the lips to maintain the rich colour without bleeding outside of the lip line. For further prevention of bleeding you can use a Lip Cheat in the corresponding colour.
