Makeup Revolution 'The Matte Blush' Collection

Makeup Revolution has just released 6 new blushers to their ever-expanding makeup range and of course, I was intrigued to see how well they fared compared to their blushers in the blush palettes. For £3 you can't complain regardless but with a matte blusher they are suited to more customers and of course, are named the Matte Blush collection for a simple reason.

Blush colours in Dare, Divine, Beloved, Fusion, Nude and New Rules

As you can see from the last photo, the colours are pigmented but aren't too strong, meaning they can blend into the skin easily. As much as I love a high pigmented blusher there is honestly nothing worse than putting too much onto the skin and not being able to blend it in, wasting the makeup you already have on. I tend to prefer powder blushers for this reason and it is so much easier, especially for newcomers, to build the product up on the cheeks instead of trying to rub it in as it's too harsh. This goes without saying really but with six colours there are enough shades to suit most people. There are some brown-toned pinks that could double up as a bronzer if required. I usually vary between using a matte blush and a shimmery blush depending on the mood but for a more subtle look these are definitely worth investing in. You can't really go wrong with £3 anyway but Makeup Revolution is a trusted brand to me (see my brand directory!) so I can usually rely on them producing affordable but quality makeup products.  Have you tried anything from Makeup Revolution?

A New Obsession?

First let me say I am really impressed with these Makeup Revolution I Heart Obsession palettes! These three beautiful palettes arrived last week and I'm incredibly excited about one in particular.

Wild Is The Wind*
A mix of matte a shimmer shades, this palette has different shades to the usual 'neutral' palettes you often see. In particular I'm curious to use the top left aqua colour, and the bottom right purple. I love how pigmented these eyeshadows are, as are the rest of the eyeshadows Makeup Revolution make. This would be a fabulous palette if you want to mix up your everyday makeup without going too bold.

Paris* 

 This is described as a romantic palette with some lovely everyday shades and the perfect greys, browns and blues to make a subtle smokey eye look. My favourite from this palette looks like it will be either the navy blue or the middle grey looking colour. This sounds mad coming from a beauty blogger but I don't usually try brown shades out, so I will make sure to test the full palette out!

Pure Cult*
This is the palette I am most excited for. To me, this is the perfect dupe for Urban Decay's Naked 3 palette. It really surprised me! Take a look at the photos below.

The photos aren't exactly true to colour, but these colours are almost identical. The top row is Urban Decay and the bottom is Makeup Revolution. With the shimmery shades, Makeup Revolution has more glitter/shimmer and is more pigmented. There is more lasting power with Urban Decay, but it is a balancing game between pigmentation and lasting power. If you can find the perfect primer to go with it, this palette is definitely for you. 
The big difference? Urban Decay Naked Palettes are £38.00 and Makeup Revolution Palettes (these versions) are £3.99. It is 9.5 times more expensive.... I rest my case. The only difference is that UD have more colours per palette, but you could buy another Makeup Revolution palette and still have huge savings.

The best drugstore brand around?

Hello Lovelies,

I want to introduce you to my Makeup Revolution collection. There are items I have been gifted in the past, and also won through a giveaway. I review different types of beauty products, and some of them are tried and tested, then I promise myself I'll use them, and don't get around to it much. I do this with nail polishes I buy, and that "one lipstick that I need" that looks the same as the rest I already have. This brand is different. I may not use every single shade of each product, but as a whole I love the brand and wanted to show you why!

Atomic lipsticks (post here)

These £1 lipsticks are creamy and pigmented, leaving a shine to your lips. I love the purple toned shades. You can tell I've used 'Make Me Tonight' the most!

All Day and Night pencils (post here)

Each of these are £1.99 and are also of a creamy texture. There is nothing worse than dragging a dry pencil across your eyelids and this is why I love these pencils, as they are the opposite. I've used some of these a fair bit and should probably sharpen them before my next use!

The One Fluid Blusher in 'Pink Dew' £3.

I haven't posted a full review of this yet but so far I like this blusher. Aside from Benetint, I've never used a fluid blusher, so it's taking quite a bit of getting used to. The shade is lovely against my pale skin and blonde hair. I can't comment on how long it lasts, since I've not worn a primer with it yet, just foundation, however on a full face of makeup it lasts the full day.

With both matte and non-matte blusher sticks, there are colours for every type of makeup look. They are £5 each, with the shade 'Malibu' being a great bronzer to contour with. I prefer the non-matte shades, as I love a bit of shimmer.

I have posts on all but the Iconic Dreams palette so I'll share my thoughts here. It is extremely similar to the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (£37) whereas this is £4, a huge difference in price. If you can tell from my photos, I use these shadows a lot and have still not hit pan on any of them. They are true to colour and a true investment.

All About Pink - These are great for summer when bright cheeks are in. The lighter colours in the palette are lovely too.

Hot Spice - A lot warmer colours with some that I'd use to contour with. A highlighter is also included to brighten up you skin with. I love the look of the baked shades, they look like moons!

Golden Sugar - This is my favourite out of the blusher palettes, with highlighters, blushers and bronzers in. They are warmer toned colours but suit every skin tone.

Concealer palette - The lighter shades are the ones most suited to my skin tone, but I use different ones for under my eyes, and for blemishes. The consistency is fairly thick, so I use with foundation and not CC cream.

I hope you enjoyed my post! I know 8 palettes and everything else is a lot, but I take pride in my makeup and love using different things every day. You can never have too much makeup, right? This is over £100 worth of makeup, but compared to other drugstore brands this is very affordable for the amount you get.

The One Blush Sticks | Makeup Revolution

 Hey Lovelies,

This post is slightly different to usual (not in the sense that it's a favourite brand of mine). These are the new The One Blush Sticks* by Makeup Revolution, and I have the luxury in trying them all out!

Matte: Rush, Pink, Dream, Malibu

 Rush, Pink, Dream, Malibu

Left arm: Malibu, Dream, Pink, Rush Right arm (matte): Malibu, Dream, Pink, Rush At £5 each, and being compared to Nars dupes all over Twitter, you seriously get good value for money. I personally cannot afford Nars, and don't own even one of their products. These however, are lovely. You can see from the swatches that the matte products are more visible but can easily be blended in. I love they have included 'Malibu' for contouring/adding a bit of bronze to your face, especially in Winter! I have pale skin and this will definitely be using this to contour, but be warned, you have to make the effort to blend this in, as from the swatches you can tell it's pretty pigmented. As for 'Dream', the shimmery version is perfect for highlighting! It's so beautiful on your cheeks to add a bit of brightness to your face, and using a small brush, applying it underneath your eyebrows to define them. Both 'Pink' and 'Rush' seem like summery colours to me, but I love the rosy cheek look as Winter draws in. I'm a girl that can never be without her blusher, and these solid creme blushers do the trick. Again, you do need a blending brush or using your fingers to blend them in. Imagine using them straight off the product onto your skin? However, the coral tones of 'Rush' are absolutely gorgeous. I prefer the non-matte blush sticks, purely from preference being a lover of shimmer against my matte foundation/powder look. I will be whipping out the matte colours when the weather warms up again though, as the brightness of them really stands out. For £5 per stick, it seems like a no-brainer when it comes to picking up a handy, easy product that can fit in your handbag, and even used as a highlighter/lipstick in times of need. Disclaimer, again, but I genuinely love Makeup Revolution products and plan on, after Christmas doing a big haul! Their lip hugs look amazing!

Atomic Lipsticks! | Makeup Revolution

Hey Lovelies,
Happy Halloween! I hope you're all dressed up, watching movies or out having fun. I'm spending the night in with my boyfriend watching films and catching up once he has finished work. However, staying in is not stopping my wearing an atomic lipstick...

I love the packaging of these lipsticks,a simple black case with the lids showing you a little snippet of what colour you're choosing, which is good when you have all 5 colours! I can see how the green would be amazing if you were dressing up as a witch, and the darkest shade great for something more dark! I think I will wear all but the green for different makeup looks, as I'm quite into dark lipsticks.

The lipsticks have a smooth texture and last really well too. I love the shiny look to them, as opposed to matte look. When you're applying halloween makeup, most of the time your whole face is matte, so adding a glowing lipstick will really make your look.

The best thing about these is that they're £1 each, which means buying halloween makeup got so much easier. You can't buy makeup much cheaper than that. I think the best part of this range is the light and dark purples, I'm a sucker for some A/W lips.

Give Them Nightmares Palette | Makeup Revolution

Hello Lovelies,

I was so excited when I opened a random little package that arrived at my house the other week, as I didn't know what was inside. Upon opening it, I saw that it was the palette I was lusting over online, the Makeup Revolution Give Them Nightmares palette* and I was in love.

I love how mysterious the packaging is and don't want to throw it away! I know I'll get a lot of use out of the palette, so the packaging is going in my drawer otherise I'd have to faff around unboxing it a few times a week. They've planned this right time with Halloween haven't they.

Once I opened the packaging, I instantly noticed that Danger Coming and Bump In The Night were my favourites; deep sparkly blues that you can add to a smokey look to give it more depth. I adore the names of these shadows, like Bump In The Night being a Goosebumps book I used to read, Friday 13th like the film, and many more. 'Pretty Zombie' made me laugh, as an avid watcher of 'The Walking Dead' I thought it would be quite the challenge to apply this sparkly lilac to a zombie. I know I'm weird, let me be.

The 12 rectangle shadows are all shimmery, with the circular shadows all being matte. The white colour is quite pigmented on your eye once you've primed, but as you'll notice, on my arm, not so much. But having it on your eyes is what counts!

Here are the colours swatched, which look gorgeous. As I said before, the white should be at the bottom left but you can just see a hint of the sparkle. For £6 these are a bargain, and you can use them really well for everyday smokes to Halloween looks. I'm doing a post on how to create a look for a Zombie and I used the white, and the darkest colour, ironically named 'Darkness'. They worked really well and saved me buying cheap Halloween makeup, when I can imagine you can create countless looks with this palette. I'm keen to try out the lilac and purple colours for daytime looks that tie in with Autumn, so keep an eye out for that. I also have some other Makeup Revolution posts coming out this week. Girls On Film | Makeup Revolution Review

Hello Lovelies,

A while ago I won this palette, along with a concealer palette and Hot Spice blusher palette, but since this was my favourite I decided to give this the most attention,

With 18 shades in this palette, all being fairly nude/neutral tones, this is the perfect combination of shades for everyday makeup looks. It contains 12 shimmery shades, which look very similar to the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, and 6 matte shades.

I adore how some of these shades are very similar to a rose gold type colour (if you didn't know me already I'm absolutely obsessed with rose gold!) so this palette really appeals to me. It will suit all hair colours and skin tones and it generally just gorgeous! They are the most pigmented eyeshadows, put applying multiple coats is not an issue.

For £6.00 it would be rude not to fully appreciate this palette. With its slim packaging and large mirror, it is great for travelling too.

September Favourites!

Happy October! Sorry, October is my favourite month and I'm ridiculously excited to enter the month! Little rundown: 4th - Sister's 3rd Birthday 8th - Twinny's (A best friend) 21st Birthday 11th - Andy's (boyfriend) 21st Birthday 19th - My 21st Birthday 31st - Halloween! I have a very busy month as it is, along with starting my dissertation for my final year of my law degree! However, let's talk about lovely things, like makeup of course.

You may have noticed I have a different background to my previous posts! I've moved into a student flat with Andy and have bought myself some lovely furniture and realising how often I saw lovely, oops. Benefit Stay Don't Stray I mentioned this in a post I did a while ago (here). My mum bought me this as part of an early 21st Birthday present and I've been wearing it a fair bit lately. I have the shade Light/Medium which is perfect for my pale skin. It helps my eyeshadow and liner stay put during the day, and helps hide the dark circles under my eyes too; a dual purpose product! Benefit Hervana Blush I also mentioned this in the above post, and love how it has different shades that you can swirl together or use individually. I'm loving these multi-purpose products apparently... Rosy pink blushers suit me best, as opposed to a more browny toned one, as I have pale skin and blonde hair. I love how blendable this is too, I can add a tiny bit to make me a bit flushed, quite natural looking, or for an evening out I can apply more heavily and blend to look more noticeable. Urban Decay Perversion Mascara I've only had this a few days but I thought it was worth adding into my favourites! It lengthens my lashes without them looking like spiders legs (which I really don't like, as well as clumps). My lashes have never looked so long, and the thick brush makes applying it really effortless too. Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer This is applied under the Perversion Mascara and it has really helped my mascara stay on all day. I noticed over summer how my lashes looked thinner on days when I'd worn mascara all day. That really annoyed me, as it defeats the purpose of having longer, fuller lashes. This definitely helps avoid this. Urban Decay Perversion Eyeliner With bold claims of 24 hour stay, they tell the truth. This is super black on, and really does last all day. It's super smooth and worth the £15 you pay for it (not that I did, thanks Cohorted!). Makeup Revolution Eyeliner This I Heart Makeup All Day and Night eyeliner is absolutely gorgeous, with blue flex in the black formula. It doesn't last as long as UD's eyeliner, but it is most definitely worth it for £1.99! What are your September favourites?

Makeup Revolution Romantic Smoked Palette Review

Hey Lovelies,

So recently I was asking other bloggers on Twitter what Makeup Revolution products I should try, and after so many suggestions I couldn't decide! Makeup Revolution kindly offered to send me the Romantic Smoked Palette* to try out first before buying more! I chose this palette as it had quite a few different colours, with 6 shimmery shades and 6 matte. I am a huge fan of shimmery eye shadows so this is something I was looking forward to trying out.

The palette is the perfect size to take away with you and I adore how the shadows are in long thing sections instead of small square ones so you can really get your brush in there. The design is simple and shows off the eyeshadows; they don't need dressing up! For a compact palette it makes my life a lot easier than carrying around multiple single eyeshadows, or three different palettes as I change my mind every day about how I want my makeup to look.

You can mix the matte and shimmery shades together and can make so many combinations of looks with this palette. It is a great palette for smoky eye look, or a light and natural look. The shade I would least wear is probably the green shimmery shade as I personally don't tend to wear green a lot. The lilacs in the matte section look absolutely gorgeous and you can tell from my swatches that they are quite pigmented too. The shadow doesn't fall out everywhere too, and added bonus for quick application!

I love the lightest pearly eyeshadow and it will make a perfect highlighter too, which I will take full advantage of. The thing that makes a palette for me is if it has a perfect which shade, and a rich black shade. The white opens up your eyes and you can use dark shades for eyeliner or for a 'going out' type of look. I wish the shadows had names on them, so I could point out exactly which shades I mean

To top it all off, for £4 a palette you cannot complain. Makeup Revolution sell tons of products from £1 lipsticks to blusher and concealer palettes. For me, this is a brand that I will be keeping an eye on, with products coming to Superdrug stores over the UK, as soon as they come to my local stores I will be buying their highlighters and lipsticks!

For me, I am very pleased with this palette. It's affordable, it lasts on your eyes and it has a wide range of colours to choose from to make countless looks with. My Romantic Smoked Palette has made its way to my permanent makeup stash, I'm pretty sure I will be posting many selfies on Instagram wearing these shadows!
