Atomic Lipsticks! | Makeup Revolution

Hey Lovelies,

Happy Halloween! I hope you're all dressed up, watching movies or out having fun. I'm spending the night in with my boyfriend watching films and catching up once he has finished work. However, staying in is not stopping my wearing an atomic lipstick...

(l-r) Serpent, Magnificent, Ruby, Make Me Tonight, Make It Right.

I love the packaging of these lipsticks,a simple black case with the lids showing you a little snippet of what colour you're choosing, which is good when you have all 5 colours! I can see how the green would be amazing if you were dressing up as a witch, and the darkest shade great for something more dark! I think I will wear all but the green for different makeup looks, as I'm quite into dark lipsticks.

The lipsticks have a smooth texture and last really well too. I love the shiny look to them, as opposed to matte look. When you're applying halloween makeup, most of the time your whole face is matte, so adding a glowing lipstick will really make your look.

The best thing about these is that they're £1 each, which means buying halloween makeup got so much easier. You can't buy makeup much cheaper than that. I think the best part of this range is the light and dark purples, I'm a sucker for some A/W lips.

Galactica Range by Collection Cosmetics

Hello Lovelies!

This post has a little story behind it! Aside from the fact that I have new makeup storage (and absolutely adoring it), I wasn't expecting these little bundles of joy. A month into my final year at uni, I check my Facebook and see that a guy had messaged me that I didn't know, saying he had a parcel at his house for me. Yes that sounds so dodgy, but it was in fact a new tenant at my previous student house. We went to pick it up and it was in a gorgeous metal jiffy bag. I was so excited!

Inside was the new Galactica* range by Collection Cosmetics, and I was sent it in August without knowing I was about to receive it, a little surprise for me to review. I am always happy for makeup, let alone surprise makeup!

Here is the collection in full:
Nail polish in Galactic Gold, Shooting Star and Blue Moon
Eyeliner in Solar Ray and Silver Lining
Lip Butters in Moon Rock, Cosmic Candy and Pink Rush

When I saw these nail polishes I thought they were perfect for Winter. Blue Moon is my favourite by far, being a biased lover of everything blue apart from Everton. They are silky upon application and quick to dry. I love the lids of these, with the cute little stars. I'm clearly easily pleased. Nevertheless, they make me want to buy some circa 2011 Galaxy print leggings and eat popping candy. They're adorable and I'm glad I have more metallics to add to my collection. To top it off, they're great to use with nail art pens for over Christmas, using them for little baubles on your Christmas tree nails. Apologies from lack of swatches, but they are very true to colour and finish from the bottle. You can buy them from Superdrug for £3.19 at the moment.

I have an obsession with lip pencils at the moment and when I saw these I was so happy. These come in three shades and the nudest shade is so pretty. I'm a huge hoarder of lip products and have plenty of pink products, so these made me happy! They're easy to apply and wind up from the bottom. From the name "lip butter" they are soft on your lips and nourish them as well as adding a hint of colour. When you're feeling the need for subtle colour that is buildable, this is one of those products you'll consider using. These are £2.99

May I admit that these are my first non-black eyeliners? They are for the daring, but if you're looking at going all-out on your eyeliner, then here is the right selection for you. My lighting is bad on the swatches, but they're lovely and bright and shiny (I sound like a Magpie, but you get my drift). The brush is thin which is great for easy application, hence the 'Fast Stroke'. I've worn the silver once, but am still wary of wearing them out! I think the gold will look better with a warm toned eye look, and silver with a smokey eye. These are also £2.99.

At affordable prices, and shimmery colours, there isn't much to complain about. I'm fussy with eyeliner so it will take some time to get used to wearing a new brand for myself, with the added hurdle of it not being black.

Luscious Lips | NV Lip Products Review

Hello Guys!

Today I have a very positive beauty review! I was delighted when I was contact by NV to review two products, of which I could choose too. I obviously went for lip products, as they are the items I tend to loom for when I enter Superdrug.

This is the Spiced Plum lipstick which such a gorgeous shade. I'm not a summer lisptick shade kinda girl, I'm definitely more of a berry type of girl and this is the perfect shade for Autumn. I picked the shade myself so of course I am slightly biased here, but it will suit even the palest of girls. It's slim enough to fit nicely in your makeup bag and the colour lasts all day.

This is the NV Lipstick in 'Siren' which I also picked out. First of all, the packaging has this gorgous shiny silver colour which looks so pretty. Also, the square shape is a bit different to the normal circular packaging of standard lipsticks, so there's no losing this product in amongst your other thousand lip products. The only down side is that it's too big to fit in my makeup storage!

The colour is an orange-red as opposed to a blue-red so is a lot more Autumnal and isn't as bright as a darker red. As it's lighter, it means it's more suitable for daytime looks. It's not shimmery like the lip pencil is, but lovely and smooth. It stays on for quite a while, but doesn't stain. That sounds odd but I've had so many brighter lipsticks stain my lips, and this one doesn't thank

Here they are swatched together. My favourite has to be the lip pencil, as since Clinique, Revlon etc came out with these, I've been obsessing. Out of all my lip pencils, this is the darkest and most purple, so it's perfect for Autumn and looks lovely against my blonde hair and pale skin!

Have you tried any of the NV makeup products?

The Autumn Tag

THE AUTUMN TAG

I saw this tag on a few blogs and thought it would be cute to do myself!

1. Coffee - What's your favorite seasonal drink from Starbucks or any other coffee shop?
I love the flavoured hot chocolates from Costa. Sorry Starbucks, I hate coffee.

2. Accessories - What do you opt for, scarf, boots or gloves?
All of them!

3. Music - What's your favorite music to listen to during Autumn
To be honest I don't change my music habits, but closer to winter I do l love a good Christmas song.

4. Perfume - What's your favorite scent for this time of year?
I'm loving Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs even though it's a summer scent. I always like perfumes that smell like flowers no matter what time of year it is.

5. Candles - What scents will you be burning this season?
I'm still burning my Snowflake Cookie Yankee Candle but I'll be buying a Christmassy scent soon. I'd like the one that is supposed to smell like wood burning on a fire though. Not a fan of cinnamon/pumpkins etc.

6. What do you love best about Autumn?
It's my birthday, along with my friend's, boyfriends and sisters too! And snuggling up in my fluffy dressing gown with a hot chocolate.

7. Favorite makeup look?
Smokey eyes, purple lips and matte nails.

8. What are you looking forward to the most in the Autumn?
Shopping for Christmas presents early and cuddling up in a blanket.

Give Them Nightmares Palette | Makeup Revolution

Hello Lovelies,

I was so excited when I opened a random little package that arrived at my house the other week, as I didn't know what was inside. Upon opening it, I saw that it was the palette I was lusting over online, the Makeup Revolution Give Them Nightmares palette* and I was in love.

I love how mysterious the packaging is and don't want to throw it away! I know I'll get a lot of use out of the palette, so the packaging is going in my drawer otherise I'd have to faff around unboxing it a few times a week. They've planned this right time with Halloween haven't they.

Once I opened the packaging, I instantly noticed that Danger Coming and Bump In The Night were my favourites; deep sparkly blues that you can add to a smokey look to give it more depth. I adore the names of these shadows, like Bump In The Night being a Goosebumps book I used to read, Friday 13th like the film, and many more. 'Pretty Zombie' made me laugh, as an avid watcher of 'The Walking Dead' I thought it would be quite the challenge to apply this sparkly lilac to a zombie. I know I'm weird, let me be.

The 12 rectangle shadows are all shimmery, with the circular shadows all being matte. The white colour is quite pigmented on your eye once you've primed, but as you'll notice, on my arm, not so much. But having it on your eyes is what counts!

Here are the colours swatched, which look gorgeous. As I said before, the white should be at the bottom left but you can just see a hint of the sparkle. For £6 these are a bargain, and you can use them really well for everyday smokes to Halloween looks. I'm doing a post on how to create a look for a Zombie and I used the white, and the darkest colour, ironically named 'Darkness'. They worked really well and saved me buying cheap Halloween makeup, when I can imagine you can create countless looks with this palette.
I'm keen to try out the lilac and purple colours for daytime looks that tie in with Autumn, so keep an eye out for that. I also have some other Makeup Revolution posts coming out this week.
That's all for now,

Get Creepy With Me | Halloween Makeup Tutorial

Hey Guys,

This is a bit of a different one today, and doesn't feature me, but my boyfriend Andy who has his own blog where he has featured this too. In my post, I'll be talking step through step how I created a Zombie Halloween look, similar to that of the Walking Dead tv show. This is an easy and cheap makeup look!

Firstly, if you have unruly brows like Andy, put Vaseline on them to stick them down. This is a lot calmer on the skin than using Pritt Stick or other glue, and will wash off easily afterwards. You then want to grab some eyelash glue and some tissues to make the 'wounds'. Stick some of the glue straight onto freshly cleaned skin, and scrunch up tiny pieces of tissue and stick them on. Make square/rectange type shapes to represent unusual wounds and mini ones (like on the forehead) for more of a 'deep scratch'. Apply glue over the tissue and apply more tissue and glue if needed. Wait for it to dry.

Secondly, apply a foundation to the skin. As you can see, Andy is paler than me so it doesn't match, but once you apply blood and everything later it doesn't really matter. Apply evenly, covering the tissue and eyebrows. Andy has close to black eyebrows so they didn't cover that well. Once dry, apply a powder to set the foundation. This can be a white powder or skin coloured, it's up to you how drastic you want the makeup to look.

On top of this, I began to add grey eyeshadow over the temples, nose and eyes. I then started to fill in Andy's eyes with black and grey eyeshadow to make them look more hollow, and his face look gaunt as this makeup look is supposed to represent the dead after all.

Add more and more black eyeshadow to the eyes in gradual stages to hollow out the eyes. I also added some to the cheekbones to make him look more 'dead', and to near the cuts. Zombies aren't clean yano, they need to look a bit dirty.

The next step (which I didn't photograph as I got a bit over-excited/scared) is to add black eyeshadow to the gaps in the wounds. Then go over this, and around the wounds with purple, bright red and dark red lipsticks. It creates a more realistic look of blood and flesh without using latex and tons of fake blood, which dries lighter. Here, I decided Andy wasn't zombie-enough so I added more tissue and glue to near his lips but not on his lips as I didn't want to damage them!

Then add the fake blood! This is where you can go crazy and add as much or as little as you wish. This genuinely creeped me out!

The completed look! It looks really complicated upon first glance, but using the steps it is pretty simple. You could easily extend this to a full face look, or add orange and green colours to make the 'decaying' look more realistic all over.

This was my first attempt too and I must say I'm pretty proud! I didn't damage any of my own makeup brushes, and bought a pack for £3 in Primark in the Christmas aisle if you need to pick up some Halloween brushes. You can find fake blood in any supermarket or discount shop for around £1 too.

Hope you liked it!

Girls On Film | Makeup Revolution Review

Hello Lovelies,

A while ago I won this palette, along with a concealer palette and Hot Spice blusher palette, but since this was my favourite I decided to give this the most attention,

With 18 shades in this palette, all being fairly nude/neutral tones, this is the perfect combination of shades for everyday makeup looks. It contains 12 shimmery shades, which look very similar to the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, and 6 matte shades.

Shimmery Shades

Matte Shades

I adore how some of these shades are very similar to a rose gold type colour (if you didn't know me already I'm absolutely obsessed with rose gold!) so this palette really appeals to me. It will suit all hair colours and skin tones and it generally just gorgeous! They are the most pigmented eyeshadows, put applying multiple coats is not an issue.

For £6.00 it would be rude not to fully appreciate this palette. With its slim packaging and large mirror, it is great for travelling too.

Excuse my swatch pictures include my panda onesie, but it's getting cold!

"Say Something Nice, Or Say Nothing At All"

Hey Guys,
I'm sure plenty of you have seen the recent, very negative article that I won't link to, about Zoe Sugg tonight. I wanted to put forward my opinions, since I have been tweeting a fair bit about it too.

My nan always used to say to me as a child "Say something nice, or say nothing at all" which I've lived by through my entire life. We all snap when we're frustrated and I'm sure a lot of us have said things we don't mean, and apologised. But there's a huge difference by giving your opinion to one person, to writing an article about one individual, creating controversy, and the potential for a lot more negative comments.

I've personally been bullied before, by multiple people and it's horrible. I'd never wish it upon anyone. So for someone to describe that someone's username made their "stomach churn" is just a dramatic and cruel thing to say. And that's just in the opening sentence. For me, Zoe is a role model, despite what this author thinks, and is a huge inspiration to females all over the world. She's helped people cope with mental illnesses, and taught me a thing or two about how to do a fishtail braid.

I won't go on about how immoral it is to slate everything about a person, because we all know it's wrong, even to the extent where trolling and cyberbullying are being put into law. I'm a huge believer in Karma and positive vibes, without sounding like a "hippie" and the blogging community support over this controversial topic, and several others is so heart warming.

Openly telling someone how you feel in the hope it relieves others is such a courageous thing to do, considering there is still such a stigma over mental health. I am not open about my feelings all over the internet, but watching Zoe's videos about anxiety help me and I'm pretty sure they help others.

I'm so proud of her and plenty of other bloggers/vloggers who are doing well for themselves, as the work we all put into this as a "hobby" or even a career is time consuming, with a huge need for motivation and dedication. We don't need the irony of someone promoting "feminism" by publicly hating on another woman. But we can all stick together in the hope that blogging will be more of a respected hobby and career in the future.

Apologies if this touches a nerve, but I believe children should look up to her and every other positive blogger out there, as it shows how much hard work outside education can help benefit your life, develop your writing and photography skills, and go towards extra experience on your CV.

Simple Smokes | FOTD

 Hey Lovelies,

Just a quick post to follow on from last week's OOTD!

miss laura hadley blonde girl beauty mac eyeshadow urban decay mascara blush ombre highlights dip dye

I was going out to a meal for my boyfriend's birthday and wanted to put a bit more makeup on that usual. It wasn't the best job I've made as I was in a little bit of a rush, and now I'm annoyed that I definitely could have blended this better!

My base is Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation with Maybelline 24 hour stay powder. I've then used a Rimmel brow pencil to fill my eyebrows in a little. I've used Makeup Revolution's Hot Spice palette to give my cheeks a little glow!

On my eyes, I used my Naked 3 palette mixed with a plain black eyeshadow for the outer crease. For liner, I used Maybelline's Eye Studio Master Duo 2-in-1 Glossy Liquid Liner very finely, and used Urban Decay's Subversion primer and Perversion mascara, which I absolutely love. I also have Mac's Hot Gossip on my lips.

I loved how simple this was, and it really didn't take long to create, as you can probably tell. I'm not a makeup artist though, I'm a busy law student, so please forgive!

Effortless Autumn Staple Outfit | OOTD

Hey Lovelies,

On Saturday it was my boyfriend's 21st birthday and he decided to spend the day opening presents, ringing family and chilling out. In the evening, we went to Jamie's Italian in Newcastle for his birthday meal. We tend to go to the chain of restaurants a lot as the food is absolutely amazing.

I went for a simple ripped jeans (although my tiny legs are hiding the rips) and white tee combo with chelsea boots and a leather jacket. It's come into the Autumn season now and I needed to dress up a classic combination. The studs on this jacket make a huge difference to the outfit as a whole.
Jacket: Topshop, 2 years ago
Top: Topshop, £16
Jeans: Primark, £13
Chelsea Boots: New Look, £29.99
Sorry for the blurry photo!

100 Questions No One Asks Tag

Hey Lovelies,

I've seen this tag floating around the blogisphere and thought I'd give it a go! I love doing tag posts and reading other blogger's ones, as I'm a bit nosey and love to see what other people answer! Anyway, on with the questions:
