Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer Review

I'm a creature of habit and have been using one of the best-selling concealers since I began blogging four years ago. I saw the hype about the new Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer and I couldn't help but pick it up in C1. It's supposed to be a dupe for the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, even down to the applicator, but I'm yet to try that so can't pass a comment. The Conceal & Define Concealer is meant to be made for everyone out there, with 18 shades from fair to deep, you would think there would be enough shades to match everyone's skin tone. I picked up the lightest shade and it matches my foundation, meaning for everyday use or to highlight my under eyes, I'd effectively need a C0 which doesn't exist. Again since I'm so fair I can't comment on whether the medium and deep shades suit all skin tones but if the lightest shade isn't light enough, I don't think the deepest will be.

Aside from the shade debacle, this concealer is really good, exceeding my expectations. It's medium to full coverage and conceals blemishes and dark circles better than the Collection concealer, and has a matte finish. It tends to crease slightly more but that's because it has a higher coverage so is fully expected. The large applicator means applying the concealer is really easy and if you're using it to highlight (or contour) larger areas it makes it really simple. It blends really well, and to top it off it's only £4! I've blended it with both a brush and a beauty sponge and has worked great both ways, so my only complaint is that I need a lighter shade. At the moment if you buy now from Superdrug you get a free eyeshadow & highlighter palette when you spend £12, bargain!

Makeup Revolution Christmas Lip Lacquer Gift Set Review

I was in Superdrug not long ago and was looking at buying some of the Makeup Revolution liquid matte lipsticks. I picked a few and headed for the tills when I noticed the Christmas stand on my way. They had a few Makeup Revolution gift sets that I wasn't drawn to until I noticed this set - reduced from £15 to £12. Not the colours I had picked up, especially since I'm not a fan of baby pink on myself, but close enough. I ended up saving £6 overall which is why I was swayed into buying the gift set.
I'm yet to see a perfect liquid lipstick. Upon swatching and putting on the lips the colour pay off is pretty good. Not as much to say that you need to drop everything and go and buy them, but pretty good. The biggest annoyance I have with these products is the fact that they look perfect enough to not take the product with you when you leave the house. You eat something and you're left with an ugly lip liner effect and you can't fix it. Why? Liquid lipsticks seem to lack the staying power and it seems to be a must that you take them everywhere you go to reapply if a sip of water hits your lips. I know there are more expensive brands that have probably covered this flaw but for now, I've tried three brands (this, MUA and Sephora) and they all have the same issue.
The bolder the colour, the better pay off it seems with these too. The purples and the red shade look the best and apply smoothly. A tiny bit sticky until dry but not too bad. I like the simple packaging too, similar to the Nyx alternative where you can see exactly what shade it is. I've not worn them all out yet but I'll make it my mission to over Christmas and I'll report back. For £2 a lipstick, they're definitely worth trying to see if liquid lipsticks are for you.

Makeup Revolution Unicorns Unite Lipsticks | Blogtober

Every year Makeup Revolution bring out extraordinary palettes and lipsticks close to Halloween and they did not disappoint this year. These are the Unicorns Unite lipsticks* which are pretty metallic shades that are perfect for this time of year. They come in daring shades of purple to a bold turquoise that would fit a Halloween look perfectly. The lipsticks are £1 each but you can buy all 5 for £4 on their website which is an absolute steal since £1 each is a bargain anyway let alone 80p each if you buy them in the set.
Myth the probably the most wearable shade and is perfect all year round. All the lipsticks are buildable in colour and are fairly pigmented. They do pick up on any cracks or dry patches in your lips so exfoliate and hydrate your lips first. They're incredibly similar to the Atomic lipstick collection that came out last year aside from the dark green shade from that collection. I'm glad there are three purple toned colours since I would wear these day to day during Autumn/Winter.
The only downside to the lipsticks is the packaging. The lids tend to fall off these pretty easily (as with their other lipsticks) but for £1 you can't really complain. I just know for future reference not to put them in a bag! You can buy their lipsticks online here. post signature

Makeup Revolution 'The Matte Blush' Collection

Makeup Revolution has just released 6 new blushers to their ever-expanding makeup range and of course, I was intrigued to see how well they fared compared to their blushers in the blush palettes. For £3 you can't complain regardless but with a matte blusher they are suited to more customers and of course, are named the Matte Blush collection for a simple reason.

Blush colours in Dare, Divine, Beloved, Fusion, Nude and New Rules

As you can see from the last photo, the colours are pigmented but aren't too strong, meaning they can blend into the skin easily. As much as I love a high pigmented blusher there is honestly nothing worse than putting too much onto the skin and not being able to blend it in, wasting the makeup you already have on. I tend to prefer powder blushers for this reason and it is so much easier, especially for newcomers, to build the product up on the cheeks instead of trying to rub it in as it's too harsh. This goes without saying really but with six colours there are enough shades to suit most people. There are some brown-toned pinks that could double up as a bronzer if required. I usually vary between using a matte blush and a shimmery blush depending on the mood but for a more subtle look these are definitely worth investing in. You can't really go wrong with £3 anyway but Makeup Revolution is a trusted brand to me (see my brand directory!) so I can usually rely on them producing affordable but quality makeup products. Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette Review

As a blonde with pale skin, it's often hard to achieve the perfect contour. With a lot of these looks stemming from Kim Kardashian with tanned skin and brown hair it is clear that we cannot use the same products, making it more difficult to achieve the same look. Makeup Revolution have the solution to the problem with the Ultra Contour Palette* which has 8 shades so that everyone can contour.

There are three bronzers in this palette and I think the middle shade is best for pale gals. I would definitely use the darker shades for a night out or when I have a tan! They are so smooth to apply and are true to colour when on the skin which is always a good thing when using a new product. The two baked blushers not only look stunning but add a slight touch of colour with a bit of shimmer which can be used to illuminate the skin too. In addition, there are three light powders which can be used to set your makeup. The yellow shade would be perfect for setting under eye makeup to brighten the area up whilst the other two shades can be used on other areas of the face. It reminds me a lot of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Contour Kit (£39.00) so for a fraction of the price at only £8 you could spend money on another dupe or two from Makeup Revolution with a lot of change left. To be able to create multiple looks from one palette is perfect and it saves from having tons of boxed products and potentially forgetting to take them with you when travelling. Palettes are worming their way into my daily makeup very quickly, not that Makeup Revolution have helped at all from their affordable palettes but partially because I'm a little lazy. I open a face palette and have three products in there I can use for one makeup look. I own about three blush palettes, a concealer palette, tons of individual products and far too many eyeshadow palettes all by Makeup Revolution because I trust them to do a good job! They've never let me down, and the Ultra Contour Palette has kept me sculpted and smiling all weekend. Will you be trying out the Ultra Contour Palette?

Product Testing - Makeup Revolution Contour Brush

As one of the new Product Testing Beauty Bloggers I gained the opportunity to review one of Makeup Revolution's new brushes; the Contour Brush*. As you can see from my photo I have a fair few makeup brushes already but as a brand I really enjoy using Makeup Revolution's products as you might be able to tell if you read my blog regularly. I've been working with them for over a year reviewing their beauty products but hadn't seen their brushes yet. The brush I'm reviewing today is their F105 Contour Brush (£3.49) which is made from synthetic hair and is vegan friendly I believe.

The brush is slanted to fit the shape of your cheeks and is best used with a powder product. The brush blends in bronzer delicately with the soft synthetic brushes. It's not one of those brushes where you rigorously use the brush to blend a product in so it looks incredibly natural due to the nature of the bristles. For this reason I like to use the brush instead to apply blush or highlight. For me, as a blonde gal, contouring must be doing to blend in flawlessly. I like using a stiffer brush to really 'get in there' and work away at the product to remove harsh lines for a natural looking glow. I've started using this brush for my blusher on a daily basis as it packs on the right amount of product to really build up a blush for a rosy complexion. The shape of the brush fits the apples of my cheeks and you can blend the small amount of product seamlessly into the cheek. To highlight, I dip this in my Makeup Revolution Golden Sugar Palette and sweep the lightest shade all across the top of my cheekbones and under my brow bone. Just make sure you wash it in between using different products. To wash the F105 Contour Brush I use my Mac Brush Cleanser and swirl it around then wash under warm water. It's important to dry your brush tilted downwards on a towel so any remaining water doesn't wear away the glue holding the bristles to your handle. This will then make sure you can use your brush for longer without having to buy a new one! Overall I do prefer to use this for blush and highlight, since it is a softer brush it doesn't have as greater impact to really buff in a product but is perfect for giving you a rosy glow! post signature

Amazing Eyeliners? Makeup Revolution Review

As you will know so well by now, I adore Makeup Revolution. I've been working with them since they first started and have featured their products not only on my blog, but all over my Instagram, where only the best products go up. A consistently good brand, Makeup Revolution remain my favourites for the eye products*. They're affordable and of good quality. What's not to love?

The first half of these products are standard eyeliners with a very handy pencil sharpener built into the lid. First off, I have been going nuts because I lost my eyeliner sharpener, used a knife on an old eyeliner and have completely ruined it. These have saved my other liners from being thrown into the bin, staying sharp and getting a lot of use out of them.
Makeup Revolution's eyeliners are consistently good to me for a reason. They have a smooth formula which eases makeup application but also protect your eyes from being scratched. I have super sensitive eyes and eye lids and it makes a huge difference to use a product that is good on your skin. I recently found out that the Seventeen liquid eyeliner brings me out in a reaction and makes my eyelids sting which is really not what I'm after when buying an eye product.
Not only are these good eye products, but the other half are suitable for lips too! This is where the 'Hypocrisy' line comes in. The Hypocrisy products are Baddest Blue, Depraved, Crime, Tipx and Vice. These are so smooth and easy to apply to the lips. I recently featured Depraved in this blog post which I got tons of positive comments from online. I am determined to create a look using Baddest Blue as a lip liner as I think blues look beautiful next to pale skin and blonde hair.
The best thing about these liners? Theyre £1. No more "I can't afford anymore makeup" because let's me honest, you can't afford not to. Affordable, great quality and a trusted brand. What more could you ask for? I've featured a lot of other Makeup Revolution products here if you want a nose!

A New Obsession?

First let me say I am really impressed with these Makeup Revolution I Heart Obsession palettes! These three beautiful palettes arrived last week and I'm incredibly excited about one in particular.

Wild Is The Wind*
A mix of matte a shimmer shades, this palette has different shades to the usual 'neutral' palettes you often see. In particular I'm curious to use the top left aqua colour, and the bottom right purple. I love how pigmented these eyeshadows are, as are the rest of the eyeshadows Makeup Revolution make. This would be a fabulous palette if you want to mix up your everyday makeup without going too bold.

Paris*

This is described as a romantic palette with some lovely everyday shades and the perfect greys, browns and blues to make a subtle smokey eye look. My favourite from this palette looks like it will be either the navy blue or the middle grey looking colour. This sounds mad coming from a beauty blogger but I don't usually try brown shades out, so I will make sure to test the full palette out!

Pure Cult*
This is the palette I am most excited for. To me, this is the perfect dupe for Urban Decay's Naked 3 palette. It really surprised me! Take a look at the photos below.

The photos aren't exactly true to colour, but these colours are almost identical. The top row is Urban Decay and the bottom is Makeup Revolution. With the shimmery shades, Makeup Revolution has more glitter/shimmer and is more pigmented. There is more lasting power with Urban Decay, but it is a balancing game between pigmentation and lasting power. If you can find the perfect primer to go with it, this palette is definitely for you.
The big difference? Urban Decay Naked Palettes are £38.00 and Makeup Revolution Palettes (these versions) are £3.99. It is 9.5 times more expensive.... I rest my case. The only difference is that UD have more colours per palette, but you could buy another Makeup Revolution palette and still have huge savings.

Valentine's Makeup with Makeup Revolution

Hey Lovelies. I thought today it would be nice to show you my makeup I wore on Valentine's Day, including two Makeup Revolution palettes, which just happen to be my new favourites.

Iconic Pro 2 Palette
Firstly, this is a matte packaged palette that comes inside a rose gold package - gorgeous. It contains 16 matte and shimmer shades, very similar to the Lorac Pro palette, but a lot more affordable and packaged nicer in my opinion. As usual with Makeup Revolution they are very easy to apply, and pigmented enough for a lovely casual look or a night time look since it has a range of shades. I swatched a range of different shades to show you the range.

The winning feature of this palette is the double-ended brush that comes with it. They used to include sponge based applicators in the older palettes, but this brush is a game changer. I'm a typical Real Techniques kind of girl, with multiple sets and rely on them to help apply my makeup. To apply my eyeshadows for this look I used both ends of this brush, and only used one blending brush to smudge the lines to make my eyes stand out. The right-handed side of the brush is great for applying shadow in your crease for the darker shade of eyeshadow before you blend it in. Since then, I have only been using this brush to apply shadow to my crease. This has definitely made me want to invest in the other Makeup Revolution brushes and review them in the future, once I see a great product, I love going a step further and finding more great products that are worth the money.

The Iconic Pro 2 Palette is £6.99.*

Flawless Matte Palette I am one for loving matte eyeshadows, especially 32 all in one palette. The shades in this range go from a really pale white/cream shadow, used for the inner crease, a base and a highlight, to a fairly dark shade that is perfect for a smokey eye look. I only swatched a few, since my arms are not big enough for 12 shades let alone 32. I chose this palette as it is perfect for everyday use, as well as every occasion I can think for. I usually go straight for peach and pink toned shadow, with light browns for makeup for uni. On top if I'm feeling like it, I will add shimmery shadows, which I can do with the Iconic Pro 2 palette. The shade range is great and the size of the palette is not much bigger than a standard 16 shadow one, so it will fit in your handbag or travel bag with ease. It's not too heavy either, making everyday eyeshadows really portable. For how pigmented and buildable the shadows are, including that they lasted all day, I believe the price of £8.00* is great. Hope you liked my makeup look, the Makeup Revolution makeup range will always be my go-to affordable drugstore brand.

I want to introduce you to my Makeup Revolution collection. There are items I have been gifted in the past, and also won through a giveaway. I review different types of beauty products, and some of them are tried and tested, then I promise myself I'll use them, and don't get around to it much. I do this with nail polishes I buy, and that "one lipstick that I need" that looks the same as the rest I already have. This brand is different. I may not use every single shade of each product, but as a whole I love the brand and wanted to show you why!

These £1 lipsticks are creamy and pigmented, leaving a shine to your lips. I love the purple toned shades. You can tell I've used 'Make Me Tonight' the most!

All Day and Night pencils (post here)

Each of these are £1.99 and are also of a creamy texture. There is nothing worse than dragging a dry pencil across your eyelids and this is why I love these pencils, as they are the opposite. I've used some of these a fair bit and should probably sharpen them before my next use!

The One Fluid Blusher in 'Pink Dew' £3.

I haven't posted a full review of this yet but so far I like this blusher. Aside from Benetint, I've never used a fluid blusher, so it's taking quite a bit of getting used to. The shade is lovely against my pale skin and blonde hair. I can't comment on how long it lasts, since I've not worn a primer with it yet, just foundation, however on a full face of makeup it lasts the full day.

With both matte and non-matte blusher sticks, there are colours for every type of makeup look. They are £5 each, with the shade 'Malibu' being a great bronzer to contour with. I prefer the non-matte shades, as I love a bit of shimmer.

I have posts on all but the Iconic Dreams palette so I'll share my thoughts here. It is extremely similar to the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (£37) whereas this is £4, a huge difference in price. If you can tell from my photos, I use these shadows a lot and have still not hit pan on any of them. They are true to colour and a true investment.

All About Pink - These are great for summer when bright cheeks are in. The lighter colours in the palette are lovely too.

Hot Spice - A lot warmer colours with some that I'd use to contour with. A highlighter is also included to brighten up you skin with. I love the look of the baked shades, they look like moons!

Golden Sugar - This is my favourite out of the blusher palettes, with highlighters, blushers and bronzers in. They are warmer toned colours but suit every skin tone.

Concealer palette - The lighter shades are the ones most suited to my skin tone, but I use different ones for under my eyes, and for blemishes. The consistency is fairly thick, so I use with foundation and not CC cream.

I hope you enjoyed my post! I know 8 palettes and everything else is a lot, but I take pride in my makeup and love using different things every day. You can never have too much makeup, right? This is over £100 worth of makeup, but compared to other drugstore brands this is very affordable for the amount you get.

The One Blush Sticks | Makeup Revolution

This post is slightly different to usual (not in the sense that it's a favourite brand of mine). These are the new The One Blush Sticks* by Makeup Revolution, and I have the luxury in trying them all out!

Matte: Rush, Pink, Dream, Malibu

Rush, Pink, Dream, Malibu

Left arm: Malibu, Dream, Pink, Rush Right arm (matte): Malibu, Dream, Pink, Rush At £5 each, and being compared to Nars dupes all over Twitter, you seriously get good value for money. I personally cannot afford Nars, and don't own even one of their products. These however, are lovely. You can see from the swatches that the matte products are more visible but can easily be blended in. I love they have included 'Malibu' for contouring/adding a bit of bronze to your face, especially in Winter! I have pale skin and this will definitely be using this to contour, but be warned, you have to make the effort to blend this in, as from the swatches you can tell it's pretty pigmented. As for 'Dream', the shimmery version is perfect for highlighting! It's so beautiful on your cheeks to add a bit of brightness to your face, and using a small brush, applying it underneath your eyebrows to define them. Both 'Pink' and 'Rush' seem like summery colours to me, but I love the rosy cheek look as Winter draws in. I'm a girl that can never be without her blusher, and these solid creme blushers do the trick. Again, you do need a blending brush or using your fingers to blend them in. Imagine using them straight off the product onto your skin? However, the coral tones of 'Rush' are absolutely gorgeous. I prefer the non-matte blush sticks, purely from preference being a lover of shimmer against my matte foundation/powder look. I will be whipping out the matte colours when the weather warms up again though, as the brightness of them really stands out. For £5 per stick, it seems like a no-brainer when it comes to picking up a handy, easy product that can fit in your handbag, and even used as a highlighter/lipstick in times of need. Disclaimer, again, but I genuinely love Makeup Revolution products and plan on, after Christmas doing a big haul! Their lip hugs look amazing! post signature

Atomic Lipsticks! | Makeup Revolution

Happy Halloween! I hope you're all dressed up, watching movies or out having fun. I'm spending the night in with my boyfriend watching films and catching up once he has finished work. However, staying in is not stopping my wearing an atomic lipstick...

I love the packaging of these lipsticks,a simple black case with the lids showing you a little snippet of what colour you're choosing, which is good when you have all 5 colours! I can see how the green would be amazing if you were dressing up as a witch, and the darkest shade great for something more dark! I think I will wear all but the green for different makeup looks, as I'm quite into dark lipsticks.

The lipsticks have a smooth texture and last really well too. I love the shiny look to them, as opposed to matte look. When you're applying halloween makeup, most of the time your whole face is matte, so adding a glowing lipstick will really make your look.

The best thing about these is that they're £1 each, which means buying halloween makeup got so much easier. You can't buy makeup much cheaper than that. I think the best part of this range is the light and dark purples, I'm a sucker for some A/W lips.
